Hakeem is one the top 5 centers ever. Ewing isnt on his level. Hakeem was MVP.
Wilt/Kareem/Hakeem/Malone/Russell
Ewing IS NOT IN THAT GROUP.
Moses was a power forward. Wilt > the other 4 combined. Hakeem was definitely better than Ewing...not even close. But Ewing is a first time hall of famer.
Ewing an Olajuwon are definitely same level in my book. I loved watching them battle through the nineties and never thought that one of them dominated the other. (While they made every other center look like until shaq really came into his own) Ewing has always gotten undeserved hate for some reason, perhaps because of the unpopularity of his bruising New York teams.
The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have beaten the NBA's annual trade buzzer to get LeBron James some of the fresh help he's been openly craving.
In a three-way trade with Chicago and Seattle that has been submitted for league approval, NBA front-office sources say that Cleveland will come away with four new teammates for James, headlined by Ben Wallace from the Bulls and sharpshooter Wally Szczerbiak from the Sonics.
The league office was notified of the deal before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trading deadline, sources said, and is currently reviewing the trade details as required for formal approval.
After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls.
The Bulls, apparently abandoning their gamble on Wallace less than two seasons into the lucrative four-year deal they used to sign him away from Detroit, would get Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden and swingman Larry Hughes along with Cavs reserves Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown.
The Sonics, shedding Szczerbiak in the name of additional payroll flexibility, come away with the expiring contracts of Cleveland's Ira Newble and Chicago's Adrian Griffin as well as Cavs veteran Donyell Marshall.

yeah, looks decent for the bulls too, they can get rid of wallace, and what they give up in defense, they make up for in gooden, who can actually hit a jumper in addition to blocking a shot here and there.

Looks like a pretty good trade for the Cavs. Best part for them might be the acquisition of Delonte West.
Are you serious? Thought they needed more than him at the point.
I think Delonte is underrated, but maybe not for long.
Hard to figure out Cleveland's lineup with Wallace, Ilgauskas, and Varejao up front and Gibson, West, Sczerbiak and of course James.
That's not a high scoring front line. There might be 15 points there....total.
Ilgauskas can get it done on offense. He is averaging 14 ppg this season and about 15 for his career. That is a ridculously potent offensive backcourt with Scerbiak and Gibson chucking three balls.
Hakeem is one the top 5 centers ever. Ewing isnt on his level. Hakeem was MVP.
Wilt/Kareem/Hakeem/Malone/Russell
Ewing IS NOT IN THAT GROUP.
NO SHAQ????
lol.
no.
Unbelievable. Shaq is probably in the top 5 players of all time.
Ha!
St8 comedy. The man is great, no question. But he ain't even in the top 10 players of all time.
I'm saying--Young Scrappy may be credentialed up when it comes to the science of basketball, but his expertise doesn't extend to the discpline of history.

This is the dummest shit ive read herr at SS.
Hakeem dominated Robinson/Shaq/and Ewing.
He beat Ewing in the Finals and got Finals MVP. That's not DOMINATION?
I'd say Shaq is a top 5 center of all-time. Definitely over Malone. Wilt/Russell/Jabbar/Hakeem/Shaq. Shaq not top 10 player of all-time, no.
I won't dispute Ewing's status as a 1st-time HOFer, but there is a clear distinction between Olajuwon and Ewing in my mind.
These all-time lists always cause arguments because you can't really compare guys who never played each other without drifting into private mind-garden territory. Who the hell knows how Shaq and Russell would have played if they were contemporaries? I think you just have to judge the players by how they played in their prime. All that "50 greatest players of all time" shit just annoyed me.

I dunno. I just like talking sports. Feel free to dip from that particular discussion if it's going to annoy you.

And like keith said, I don't think Moses Malone counts.

When did you come to this conclusion?
Did Baron Davis make the list?

MOSES MALONE IS NOT A TRUE CENTER. 6'10", 230. Therefore he does not make the list. Shaq would run through most all of those centers listed above.
Is the NBA back? Or are people paying attention now with the lull between football and baseball?
Clearly not; remember when the boy reminisced about Bibby and JWill sharing the floor in Sacramento ("the hottest ticket in town")?
Jordo
Wilt
Jerry West
Larry Bird
Magic Johnson
Bill Russell
Julius Erving
Jabbar or Olajuwon (tough call)
Duncan
?????
I'd say Kobe's destined to shake-up that list.
This is the dummest shit ive read herr at SS.

TO MAKE THE LIST OF GOAT CENTERS, YOU NEED TO BE 7 FOOT OR TALLER. NOBODY CARES ABOUT CAREER NUMBERS, ONLY HEIGHT. SHAWN BRADLEY IS NUMBER FOUR.
continue to drop that science, little yuki.
How much of these widely known GOAT playas have you seen actual footage of?

Wow
You put up any power forward against a center, and you'll see what happens. Look what happened to STAT vs Bynum. The fuck outta here.
