Yeah, mondays suck -- and it's a perpetual kind of suckiness. Plus, I'm really not feeling the whole work/play ratio. What over-achiever came up with this whole five days on, two days off crap?

I would also check ULINE. They manufacture all things packing related on a commercial/industrial level, so it will likely be the cheapest route if they carry them.

on the positive note, the neighbor's kind of cute and shes a party animal. Nice!

if i don't go out alone, i start going crazy. i live with my man, i try to make sure i have a bit of extra time to myself I relate to this. Also, when I was younger, it took a while to find folks who liked the same things as me, so I did a lo…

Are the headphones on an iPod unlike other portable players in the sense that you can't change them? If so, that's crazy...

you're a racist who can't seem to identify with soulfull and conscious pleas of Dope Game's "Chicago California" then No, I just think it sucks.

Is it possible to only block people who disagree with you? thats not a good lifestyle choice See, that's exactly what I'm talking about; opposing chatter. Enjoy posting, 3rdStream -- one day SS will up its ignore game.

Is it possible to only block people who disagree with you? Well... Sabdbababbaddada is a good start I guess.

Artists and labels don't only want the sampling fee, they also want a cut of publishing, because "the life of the song" will generate further income in the future than just that flat, one-time fee. I do not know if length of the sample (i.e. how mu…

Another "urban myth" about sampling that I hear is that if you only press "promo" copies, you don't have to clear samples...is there any truth to this?? There is some truth to this. The idea is, you can sample whoever you like, but once you turn a …

Not that I don't believe you but I seriously remember seeing quite a few discussions about this where a drum pattern is not considered copyrightable in the same way a melody is. You can enforce on MECHANICAL rights, i.e. if you sample straight off o…

Yeah, what I'm saying here is that you can't claim - under current copyright law - that a drum break/pattern is a composition. If you sample a break directly off a record, then there are mechanical/recording rights you'd have to clear. But if I hire…

If the artist who's suing you could prove that you sampled him, you would end up paying for that guitar twang based on the length of the sample.
-
I thought drum breaks weren't copyrightable? Or maybe it's that you could sue over mechanical rights but not composition? Oh, they are. A lot of drummers are paying rent from solos they did thirty years ago.

So many classics from before that are in print that wouldn't be worth pressing if all the samples were cleared... they'd probably lose money... They probably would. But I doubt the courts would care if it actually came down to the artist (who was s…

Pretty sure Byrd could still sue for royalties. I've never heard of any limitations based on when the material (in question) was created in regards to suing for uncleared samples.

The closest I've come to feeling him is the Laurel Canyon Blues LP. His stuff is just a little too blues rock for me, though. Yeah, I came across a few of his records that I don't normally see the other day, one of which had Blue Mitchell playing …

The new albums by JOMF and NNBB are great. Little help (for real headz that don't know the deal).

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat... Haven't heard much new music to impress me and always seem to fall back on the "old" stuff. A friend recently played me the Bloc Party album and those dudes are kinda cool. My roommate's been playing the new Que…

I think it's equally usefull to discuss why these records are turds. Why don't you kick it off then?...
-
Generous use of "classic" Perhaps. But it is "classic" in the sense that it's a memorable album from the time and something that I would suggest to someone who was getting into '90s hip-hop. As opposed to those other terds listed.
-
I don't know if this is some inside Soul Strut sarcasm, but this Mic G. is considered a classic to many -- myself included. It's got some really nice Buckwild production on there, not to mention nice cameos from OC and Royal Flush to boot.

Props to everyone for posting their artwork. I'm really feeling this thread, let's keep it going. I don't have much (interesting) tradional art that's been digitized on this computer, but here's some branding stuff I've done in the past:
