Quote:/font1h,121b,121Just show up to a Sunday Baptist service somewhere around the vincinty of Abeline or such with your family, wearing a "Dj screw" t-shirt...lets see how many kind glances and handshakes and hugs you get from these inclusive peoples... b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1b,121b,121Have you been to a Sunday Baptist service somewhere around the vicinity of Abeline?b,121b,121The first time I went to one I was surprised at how warmly I was welcomed. The people sitting next to me introduced themselves and asked my name. Then toward the end of the service the preacher asked if we had any guests. The person sitting next to me stood up and introduced me, everyone said hello, people came up after and said hello. Very inclusive. b,121b,121The first time this happened to me was back about 1976 in Okmulgee OK. It was a Black church, so when the preacher asked if there were any guests, the entire congregation turned and looked at me. b,121b,121But this same tradition has happened to me in White churches, even though I was a long haired hippie stinkin up their pews.

Quote:/font1h,121b,121b,121But what's even more amusing is watching the Far Left loons who have yet to figure out that their views are also becoming insignificant. Somehow they seem to think Obama represents them, yet it couldn't be further from the truth.b,121b,121I stood up and supported Obama for President almost a year ago because I saw him as someone who would bridge the gap between left and right, not increase it.b,121b,121I saw Obama as someone who recognized that personal ideals aside, the only way to get things done in this country was to meet in the middle.b,121b,121Anyone who thinks the answers to our country's problems lie in the far right or far left ideals is a blind fool.b,121b,121h,121

If his healthcare plan passes, it won't be with republican support, but because democrats have a clear majority in the house and senate. This whole reach across the aisle nonsense is a necessary evil to avoid filibustering and presidential vetoes.b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121/font1
Quote:/font1h,121b,121b,121b,121And when people like Colin Powell put party affiliation aside and support a centrist platform I know I was right.b,121b,121It's time for the Rush Limbaugh's, Al Franken's, Ralph Nader's, Dennis Kucinich's, Karl Rove's and Ann Coulter's and all their minions to fade away into obscurity.b,121b,121The 60%-80% of hard working, taxpaying, logical thinking Americans want our country back.b,121b,121And it's about to happen. b,121b,121h,121

On the one hand you have hate mongering propaganda preaching racists and on the other you have elected (and about to be elected) politicians who run on platforms that favor increased civil rights and opposition to unjust wars???b,121b,121And wtf is this 60-80% want our country back figure? I will say this: that Powell speech makes the very thought of McCain as President all the more depressing and hopeless.

  • ElectrodeElectrode Los Angeles 3,085 Posts
I agree as well. Who cares if Rock is a rightie? Obama has a great chance of winning anyway, so just let the conservative spout off their shrill talking points. And even if Rock is a Republican, he doesn't seem to be of the obnoxious, illiterate, stars-and-bars waving variety. And no disrespect whatsoever YP, but you're starting to rival kala in the hyper-emotional, reactionary, freakout reply department.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I have to say that the insistance and clarification of Limbaugh, Buchanan and their acolytes - I wouldn't put Will in this boat - that Powell was just "doing it because he was black" is repugnant. It truly saddens me to hear such scapegoating in America in 2008. I can understand the older, more openly xenophobic generation thinking this nonsense, but for Rush to be hoisting this charge as an impromptu rallying cry is really disgusting. Shades of the McNabb incident.

haha! Oh shit, I'm terribly sorry. I looked at the quote (Kevin's, accidentally thinking it was yours) refering to the "OBAMA IS A LIBERAL. thank god. sorry roc, we win" comment. Between that, reading the humorous, "kala-esque but with proper grammar", out-of-left-field, "you're a asshole...no, you're an asshole" back and forth in similar political/Obama threads (not paying attention to who supports who previously, thinking it was you who always was on the rigorous Hillary Clinton!-but-horray-for-Obama hoopla) and being directly above in the thread, I without thinking directed it to you. My mistake.

Holy Shit, not being american I've been giving the polithreads a pass. Just scanned through and now I know where you dudes are packing your heat.b,121 Thanks for the clip aschrock. My take on Powell is that he went into the Rep Party properly indoctrinated, and after much shitshovelling and assucking left properly dissillusioned. Along the way he thought about running for leader but was too pansy assed after his wife talked him out of it cuz of assassination (can't say I blame him). b,121>WATCHOUT.
