Does the Donaghy scandal negatively impact possible thoughts of moving a franchise to LV?

It's not like gambling is exclusive to Vegas. Illegal gambling is everywhere. Has AC ever been a problem with the Nets/Knicks? Not the same town, no, but not far away either. I don't think that issue will keep a team out of Vegas.

  • If Vegas gets a team they should be called the Gamblers.

    Or the "All-You-Can-Eat-Buffets"

I bet it'll be the Las Vegas Lights or some lame shit like that.

I would buy a Gamblers jersey, no question.

Vegas has been BEGGING for a major sports franchise for years.

Fastest growing region in the country I think.

Plus the All-Star game went over pretty well there, me a fixture.

From what perspective. Cause the crime that weekend was off the hook.

My aunt lives there and she said it was a madhouse that entire week. She's a B-Ball Fan though.

Don't you think the All-star game and everything surrounding it was just publicized more than a "regular" event in Vegas? Don't you think as much shit jumps off at main event fight nights? I would think so. I think the All-star game was just so exclusive at the time PLUS the NBA begs this image of clean cut athletes and whatever else, so that just guarantees that the media will attribute as much negativity to an event like this as possible. Yeah maybe there was a little more madness than normal, but that has to be due to the exclusivity of the event. Denver was crazy when it was here too. It's not like all the little fools that were trying to act out during that week made the event unsuccessful. Lots of money was made, nobody died and nothing was looted or burned. I think it can be looked at as a success.

I have a new tagline for David Stern to use to promote the league...

    "The NBA: Nobody Dies"

In the short-run, this shit is a nightmare for the NBA, in the long-run, it will pay dividends. Better late than never. Look at how Bud Selig has handled the steroid era.

"up to 20 officials that may have involved in gambling at some point". NAGL to the maximum.

    Rest easy, Eddie.

I'm just glad he didn't kill or hurt anyone else. dude was an alcoholic with a penchant for not paying attention to the road.

heres a story from last year

Suit: NBA Player Watching Porn, Drunk Before Crash

(CBS) MINNEAPOLIS On March 30, Minnesota Timberwolves center Eddie Griffin was drunk and masturbating when he crashed his luxury SUV into a parked Suburban outside a store in Minneapolis, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by the man whose Suburban was hit in the crash...

Jesus man, come off it. I've seen you make comments about drunk drivers in the past.

and yes, I really have very little sympathy for a guy who has a history of getting drunk and driving around putting others in danger. This is not the first time he did it, he's been caught on camera drunk smashing into cars (check the video on the link I posted above). We should all be lucky that the only person who got hurt from his dangerous decision (this time) was himself. I hope he finds a peace in death he didn't have in life

Your hate and subsequent need to shadow all my posts is pathetic, you should consider getting a better hobby.

    R.I.P. Eddie Griffin.

Yeah, it's inconceivable that anybody would genuinely think your comment was inappropriate. Anybody that calls you on it must just be stalking you and determined to see fault in your flawless personality.

To quote something that Yogi Berra was given credit for saying even though he never did.....

I am nowhere as wise as you, I can only hope to understand one day how you see the world. From your last few posts I can gather that its ok to drink, drive and crash into trains as long as you used to be a bench player with the Timberwolves.

I'd hate to accidentally disrespect another person you admire by pointing out their history of drinking, driving and masturbating to DVD porn while totaling other peoples cars. Be a pal next time and let us all know how to handle situations like this before someone makes another faux-pas.

PS theres a Leona Helmsley thread around here where people said some harsh things I think you should go over there and set 'em straight

It's a losing cause Adam. We have unredeemable personality flaws that contributes to the demise of the board. For that, I apologize to all.

  • On the one hand I'm thinking Guzzo was a little quick on the trigger whipping out the old news...on the other hand I'm recalling faux's relishment at certain other NBAers shortcomings. In the end it's like choosing between an ice cream fart or a burrito fart I guess.

You don't really think I'm going to bother rebutting any of this drivel, do you?

I am only going to point out that there was nothing "accidental[]" about what you did. This thread was ~2 months and 32 pages deep and yet you had demonstrated no previous interest in it. But on the occasion of Eddie Griffin's death, you make your debut, dredging up the unsubstantiated masturbation allegation made by an interested party in a lawsuit against him. At least be honest about what you're up to.

Dude--are you really going to equate me poking fun at Dirk's defensive failings with this schitt?

Um, I don't see why he can't. All he was saying was that he doesn't approve of drunk driving and that drunk drivers endanger other people's lives. One wrong turn and he would have killed an old lady on the street corner, and this shit would have been on the front page of every national newspaper.
