i was summoned in my old county! i dont even live there anymore! and i cant afford to miss work!b,121b,121how do i get out of this? can you?

    Skipping jury duty is just weaksauce. But in behemoth's case, he shouldn't be on the hook for jury duty in a county he no longer lives in.

It's a real problem where I work.     While I respect those who do show up for jury duty, I've never been comfortable going myself. You can call me a kid all you want, but I really, really don't feel comfortable with our current system. I don't want to decide the fate of someone who I don't know, and the only thing I know about him or her is based on the word of lawyers who I don't know and are getting paid to say anything that wins the case. I especially don't trust many other citizens to be able to handle that sort of responsibility. b,121b,121/font1

You will always hear people say 'we need volunteers' for so and so. You will never hear 'the municipality is desperately short of volunteer jurors'. THAT'S what I'm getting at. Volunteering is a civic duty--but no one seems to think so because it is optional, not compulsory by law. So, again, with all due respect, FUSK jury duty.

    Yes, and I don't want that responsibility. I want to help people on a broader scale. I don't want to determine the fate of a few people when I think my time is better served assisting charitable organizations that aid thousands, if not millions.
