how long ago did that Doom go out of print? Do the later pressings have a noticible difference or something? I feel like I was still seeing that in store a year or so back. Though I guess that was just about when Doom blowing up so big.
damn...anyone want to pay me $60 for that MF, just holler at me. that bitch just collects dust right now.
...and i was thinking in the past that i always see OG issues of Erule's "listen up" go for decent change. funny thing is i went to see if the web had some number$ only to find out that dude has a myspace page.

Don't quote me but I think the original copy only has a Fondle Em logo, something like that.

The OG is on Fondle 'Em, the 2nd issue (also OOP) is on Subverse and has bonus track (I think its on the wax, maybe not?) "I Hear Voices"

I sold my CD of Operation Doomsday (still have it on vinyl) for close to $100 nearly a year ago, around the time when a couple copies sold for over $400 on ebay and we were all standing around going What The Fuck, didn't I just see that in the store for $15? I've been checking the used CD sections ever since then trying to find more copies but with no luck. And it doesn't seem to make much difference if you have the Fondle 'Em pressing or the later more common one. They both sell for good money.
all this stuff is just kind of scratching the surface though, right? Are there some backpack 12"s that are pulling real change, or have people moved on to regional rap, Paul C 12"s and out of print Nikitina CDs?
I bought a Jel record for $3.99 and sold it for almost $40. I wasn't mad. I love the backpacker raers because while I like some of them, I don't feel bad flipping them. I couldn'd get rid of my Doomsday LP or some of the MF Fondle 12"s I have though.
I'm all about finding the next niche. How's the Local Bay stuff going? I can't sell mine.
all that old anticon shit people pay stoopid money for. i remember a few years ago sandbox found deadstock of that music for the advanced listener and i bought a bunch of copies thinking they would go up in value. been selling them slow ever since, i think i'm down to one.
saw the doom on the wall at amoeba the other day for $75. i was surprised.

Yeah, that's what I though too. Was it a repress going around then? Couldn't have been more than a year ago.

Both versions have been OOP and $$$ for years... if you've been passing on em you slept (I don't think Subverse has even been active for a longass time, which isn't a bad thing)

The hip-hop they have on the wall at Berkeley Amoeba is a joke. Like $40 for Peanut Butter Wolf's My Vinyl Weighs a Ton. I see that around for $10 or $15 all the time.

First pressings are on triple vinyl (oops, I don't really know that)

great album but had no idea it was rare at all. i have a Fondle 'Em and I think the later Subverse one as well...

In general, I don't get how Amoeba determines their pricing for wall items. Almost everything there is way over what the market probably would settle on yet, on rare occassions, they'll under-price, like when the had the "De La Soul Is Dead" double-vinyl promo. I got that for $50 which wasn't a super bargain but it was cheaper than what that album was selling for online.
As for the backpacker stuff, we've spoken about that quite a bit on here but I don't think anyone should be too surprised. We're talking about music that had limited numbers of pressing and appealing to a small, but fiercely loyal cult base. It's a perfect storm for eBay sales.

It was only a few years ago that Atmosphere CD-Rs--CD-Rs--would routinely sell for over $100. I definitely got through some lean months by hocking my Anticon stuff for a pretty penny, and I think I still have a few other Anticon things that I could probably get $40-$50 for. Which, come to think of it, I should probably do. The budget's gettin' kinda tight these days.
Do Brainfreeze breaks (DJ SHADOW CUT CHEMIST BRAINFREEZE PRODUCT PLACEMENT Z-TRIP RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) still fetch overinflated sums?

This blew my mind at the time. I remember Aesop Rock CD-Rs topping $200 on at least two occasions. Shit that you could re-burn and xerox the cover art and it would look every bit as authentically shitty as the OG.
Anyway...
on Buck 65's Wildlife EP and/or the first Sebutones 12" (Sebutonedef)???? I've never come across them on ebay.

in general amoeba's vinyl pricing is extremely inconsistent. i find steals there all the time, but a lot of their stuff is clearly overpriced even by ebay standards.
Keep in mind, the Earthworms EP never had a formal CD pressing. So yeah, there might be some fake ones out there but what are you gonna do?

yeah, i think that's right, first pressings are on Fondle 'Em only, not Subverse... that's what cracks me up, people are getting like 50-60 bucks on Ebay for later pressings... i think the original fondle em version only went thru one pressing, cause i remember stores selling out of that record fairly quick, within a few months of it's release, it was gone, til they did the subverse pressing maybe about a year or so later... maybe longer...

i also remember seeing copies of the cd at best buy or whatever, then next year i see the cd's going for lik 80 bucks on amazon/ebay. weird. talk about a quick turnaround.
the doom isn't rare at all but people are still tripping over the original artwork getting banned. i'm pretty sure the cd won't be reissued too cos the sample police finally cracked down.

Obssessives pay stoopid money for stoopid shit all the time.
Those are tough records to find. Surprising as y'all may find it, people bought them when they came out.

It is (and pretty much always has been) a $10-20 record
OG has the Pallas sleeve w/a sticker on it...

nah, it did gor for $50 - $75 for a VERY short time. Probably a bid war between the same bidders.

Not really, the breaks market is down overall. Can't believe i just typed that
