Even from here, I could only see one party publicly declaring - repeatedly - that their "number one priority" would be to obstruct the president to such an extent that the country would almost become ungovernable. My argument is not meant to focus on extremes as you mention above (though your point is taken). Take a look at many core issues for liberals: Universal healthcare, public services & safety nets, progressive social issues, blah blah blah. There's plenty of countries (in Europe alone) that a liberal would feel quite comfortable living in. Contrast that with core conservative issues. What country out there best represents them? I think they would surprise themselves to take a deep look at that question!

I'm not really looking to talk about Romney any longer. I've always had a feeling he really wanted to be President mostly to bring legitimacy to the Mormon faith. And like the saying goes "a whipped dog doesn't bark". He'll go back to concentrating his efforts on his business and his faith.
