its at a point where even if it is 100% ILLEGAL the writing is on the wall for his ouster....

    By whom?

    the League or the Owners?

Schott bowed out....and didnt get booted.

He won't get ousted per se, but he will get suspended for at least a year and it will be impressed upon him that the Clippers will plummet in value the longer that he holds on to them. He'll sell sooner or later, hopefully sooner.

    yup ...like i said earlier.

I think a lot of this will depend on input from the other owners.

I'm guessing two years and a million dollar fine.

And no worthwhile player or coach is going to sign with the Clippers until he's gone.

Sterling has always been one of the Top 3 owners no one wanted to play for.

I was shocked he was able to put together this team

A couple of years ago he opened up his checkbook after years of being notoriously stingy.
    And that drew some talent.

I'm glad to see so many people are so angry about this.

How much longer before the NFL boots Daniel Snyder?

I don't think anyone who has followed the NBA needed this to know Sterling had racist tendencies and actions.

But let's be honest about what this last episode was really about.

Old Viagra fueled rich dude messing with a chick he has no business being with..... still married....... with this gold digger milking his old fool ass....... talks trash about the dudes he thinks she's fucking.....his justified insecurity along with an ego bigger than his bankbook, revealed him as the ignorant asshole.he was to begin with, and this episode ignited the ever present crash and burn in waiting.

the guys been a piece of shit for years, and i don't give a crap that a lady with loose morals illegally recorded him to get this ball rolling.

im not feeling too confident about a harsh punishment after Cubans remarks tonight. but i think he was just worried he'll be thrown out by other owners because they don't like him if this precedent is set heh

edit: and his repeated use of "slippery slope" was lame as hell. as if ousting a terrible owner, who has been a terrible owner and a terrible person for decades, will somehow give the league free reign to punish all owners as they see fit. gimme a break mark. sounds too much like "they want to ban extended clips?? THEY ARE COMING TO TAKE ALL OF OUR GUNS!!!"

    Rockets owner Alexander on Sterling.

ÔÇ£I mentioned that to Adam,ÔÇØ Alexander said. ÔÇ£I told Adam I donÔÇÖt think he can be removed because the constitution (of the NBA) only allows him to be removed except for gambling. IÔÇÖm not sure that legally can be done. But if he loses his players, nobody is going to want to go there. HeÔÇÖll only be able to get a player that is worth $2 million and will play for $12 (million.) And who is going to want to coach there?

ÔÇ£If youÔÇÖre a player in the NBA you donÔÇÖt want to play for somebody like that. If you worked for a company, you would walk away and say, ÔÇÿIÔÇÖm gone.ÔÇØ I think the players should have that right.ÔÇØ

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: What bothers me about this whole Donald Sterling affair isnÔÇÖt just his racism. IÔÇÖm bothered that everyone acts as if itÔÇÖs a huge surprise. Now thereÔÇÖs all this dramatic and very public rending of clothing about whether they should keep their expensive Clippers season tickets. Really? All this other stuff I listed above has been going on for years and this ridiculous conversation with his girlfriend is what puts you over the edge? ThatÔÇÖs the smoking gun? He was discriminating against Black and Hispanic families for years, preventing them from getting housing. It was public record. We did nothing. Suddenly he says he doesnÔÇÖt want his girlfriend posing with Magic Johnson on Instagram and we bring out the torches and rope. ShouldnÔÇÖt we have all called for his resignation back then? TIME -

Definitely the most spot on response to this thing thus far.

I have found myself thinking about the people who work those Clipper games and don't have the financial ability to even dream about walking from the job in protest...the folks selling beer and whatnot in the stands...those people will have to grin and bear this shit show until the end.

Fwiw, lots of folks like myself had no clue about this dude's character in general and so the girlfriend phone convo is a legitimate smoking gun because it was the first we knew of this guy.

    EDIT: words n chit....

Nice to see Ginobili heat it up a lil bit last night. 23 points in 28 minutes for the dude ain't too bad.

anyone gonna boycott nba if they don't handle this how they want them to?

  • we're going to learn two very important things here:

    1. the penalty (or lack thereof) of blatant racism in the modern world

    2. what superstar athletes are willing to ignore for a pay cheque

Doesnt Entrapment Racism feel like less of a victory vs. some regular shit?

definitely. the "anything to start the conversation" argument is pretty weak if you ask me.

also, the "the best way to get revenge is to keep taking his money" might be the single most depressingly defeatist thing i've heard. yeah, you're really going to show him who's in charge by taking $10million from a guy who's earning $100million off your back. call me crazy, but he might not learn his lesson when he sells the team he bought at 12m for 750m+. (last sale was the milwaukee bucks* @ $550)

    * = some whole other shit.

    Rumor/speculation

    1 mil and lifetime suspension.

2.5 mil, no more draft picks, and indefinite suspension

Dude let a chick in to his life that (forgive me) is quite possibly a vapid, gold digger (like most young ass chicks dating old millionaires) ...he let her in to his world so much so that he felt like he could drop his guard and espouse his fuck shit on a device that is eeeeeeeeasily recorded.

The entrapment part is less shameful than his blatant stupidity.

Watching an old dude let young tail gas him up, to the point where his logic is riding the bench, ain't entrapment...it's watching a man be a moron.

so because he's racist and rich it's okay to take advantage of him?

Good point...no, because I didn't marry a brainless fucking idiot who likes to 'see and be seen'...again, he is reaping what he sows.

Another devil's advocate question...How long does it take, in your interactions with a chick, before you realize she isn't worth trusting any further than you can throw her?

Dude is 78...she is almost 50 years younger than him...if he thought they were 'bestie phone buddies 4evr' he's a fucking mark....
