Japanese league baseball draws more fans per game than both the NBA and NHL
I'm thinking about venue sizes.
I'll help you out....
The average arena capacity in the NBA is 20K....the average attendance is 17K.
The average attendance in the Nippon Baseball league is 25K
Obviously building larger NBA arenas will not increase attendance in a league that has an average unused capacity of 3K per game as it is.
ort term
That doesn't follow logically at all. You'd have to look at the teams that are selling all or almost all of their seats for an average game. Increase the size of those venues and you could, at least in the short term, increase average league attendance.
I'm a Royals fan.
It can be good because with the Royals, and with BB in general, there is always a chance of your team coming back.
Much more so than in Football (both pointy and round) or even basketball.

Watched them tie it up and then overtake SF last night.....lets hope they can keep momentum going into SF.
In a seven game series teams can make comebacks in Basketball.
In some ways, baseball has never been stronger. The game has been free of labor strife for almost 20 years. Teams across the country are playing in new, taxpayer-subsidized stadiums. Attendance is robust, helped by the recent addition of two new wild-card teams to the postseason, which has kept more teams alive deeper into the fall.

Still, thereÔÇÖs no avoiding the reality that the World Series is not what it used to be.
Football remains the most popular sport in this country in terms of overall TV ratings. But the average age of people who are watching football is rising, whereas the age of basketball viewers has remained remarkably stable, suggesting that even as basketball fans age, new younger viewers keep tuning in. Over the past decade, the average viewer of ESPN's professional basketball broadcasting hasn't budged at all—it's been 37 years old since at least 2004. The average football viewer, however, has climbed from 43 years old to to 47. For baseball it has been even worse—it has gone from 46 years old to 53.
Prediction - kids will be sitting around at baseball games asking "What the fuck is hip-hop?," long before baseball gives a shit about an aging audience.
I'm always amazed how often every "American" sport seems to be always pitted against Soccer in these articles about losing popularity. Fair enough to talk about soccer getting popular --- as big name European soccer teams gain exposure in N. America since the rise of cable/internet (among other reasons), it's no surprise it gains more interest to some kids.
But there seems to be a constant need to treat Soccer as the boogie-man sport in America --- where once your child chooses that sport above Baseball/Football/Basketball, they will undoubtedly become socialist francophiles that will desert America to join ISIS.
okay---maybe a little hyperbole, but can't a kid like baseball [em]and[/em] soccer?
I turn on the game and the announcers are saying "we are back from an 18 minute delay. No one has ever seen a play like that. They are ejecting someone. It was a throwing error.
But they never showed the play or really explained what happened. Runner got hit by a throw, was in the base path, no interference. I've seen that, and there was no ejection or 18 minute delay.
Any way glad to see the energy in that ball park, and the Jays win. Too bad they are now going to lose (my prediction, hope) to KC.
Watched the yt of the throw hitting the bat, and the run scoring. Read the paper this morning for more insights. I saw someone get ejected, don't know why.

Right in the ear. This Royals team is a blast to watch.
I fully expect the Royals to come back tonight and win out.
Only I don't think they way Win Out in baseball.
It was over by the third inning. How can a wipe out be good....unless your San Fran.

Football is a one off.

I hope tomorrow night's game can approach world cup #s.

Soccer v 'mercin sport is the journalistic equivalent of records are back/dying.
That was a crazy game...
I'll say one thing. Every person I see jump on the bandwagon, is a potential possible baseball fan!

the moment that brought baseball into the 21st century.
