Oldest relevant rapper?

Before any of you come in here talmbout KRS-One, this is a thread about rappers who still make relevant records. I was listening to Playboy Tre this morning and I got to thinking about how rap is a young man's game. It's hard to stay relevant as you get older, but some rappers definitely manage to do it. Here's my list, in order of oldest to youngest:Too $hort (born April 28, 1966)E-40 (born November 15, 1967) Jay-Z (born December 4, 1969)Scarface (born November 9, 1970)Bun B (born March 19, 1973)I rate 40 and Bun the most relevant of all of the above. Let's see your list.

    Jay and 40 are probably the most relevant out of your list but both of them aren't really making much great music lately if that makes sense. Face is still releasing classics and Bun is still killing it.

    No, I think it's just retro who isn't understanding it (Q-Tip is still relevant?).

    And to your question:

    All my info is skraight from Wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt (although that is Bun's age, no matter what you say).

    Wait I thought Q-Tip was actually a pretty good pick. He just put out a solid album and even teh beckys know who he is.

    By relevant do we mean still popular in the mainstream (Jay-Z) or still putting out decent music (Bun B, if you like that sort of thing). There's a difference.

    Or to the hip hop culture/music industry?

    Personally I still think Melle Mel is relevant...but Im a jaded old school cunt...hehehe

    But I guess Too Short on that hyphy tip is the most 'in touch' with contemporary styles of the old timer rimers, and Jigga just resets trends...

    So would Biggie and Pac still be relevant today if they were alive? being as they would be in their mid 30s plus....

    I don't think Ice T has made any relevant music for the better part of two decades. But the dude issues a diss that elicits a response, so he's relevant to somebody.
