1. Archives Technician at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum (run by the same tribe that runs the Foxwoods Casino in CT). 2. Grad student working towards Masters in library science ... I'll be finished in the spring. This doesn't bring in money at the moment. 3. DJ. I have a weekly soul/funk/boogie night in New London, CT and also do the occasional wedding. 4. Rock band ... I play bass. Most of the money this brings in goes back into the band, though I do get some pocket cash from time to time.
1. Soul Strut Moderator (tough hours, but killer benefits and a gorgeous room + board in the Sellersivlle mansion) 2. Waxing Deep Records (ha! no, no money in a small record label) 3. Six months of school from a $$$$$ (but very possibly soul-destroying) job with one of Canada's largest law firms. It's anybody's guess whether that will be good or bad for job #1.
Data and Webteam Manager for independent healthcare research and media company. Almost as exciting as it sounds and no idea how my arts based degree resulted in this type of job but the pay funds my lifestyle nicely enough.
trial lawyer (liking more and more); lounge/club dj 1-3 x a week (liking less and less, but trying to pay off loans & get some loot together for a down payment on a house)
1) Legal Assistant (not nearly as glamorous as it sounds ) 2) DJ 3) Sell Records (although I buy way more than I sell)

Network and Systems Administrator for a software company I maintain servers for email, web, ftp, and file storage. I'm also responsible for the network, phone system, and security.
Computer Consultant Once in a while I work as a consultant doing contract work. I don't really like doing consulting that much as you have to work all over the place but getting paid $100 or more an hour is nice.
DJ once in a while. Making money isn't what drives me to DJ though.
Started selling records recently. Mostly so that I can turn around and buy more records.
I write and edit cultivation copy and coordinate LearningTours in the Development department of the largest PBS content producer in the world, WGBH. Essentially, I'm a Marketing coordinator, but I get to do fun stuff like direct radio programs, and this winter I'll be appearing on TV to schill for donations during our next pledge drive.
The money's just OK, but we get paid about 70% or what we would be paid in corporate America for the same job. I'm in it for the writing/editing practice and the sense of satisfaction I get from helping combat the lack of quality educational programming in this country.
Eventually, I plan to write a few non-fiction books, and perhaps jump to the corporate world if I need more cash to support a family.
I work for the State of California. I work 2 hours away from where I live. I dj on the side but a lot of times it feels old to me.... Really hard to get people to come out to an "underground" hip hop night. (yeah I still play that shit). Plan to sell most if not all of my second copies now that i have s-erato. Shit I'm just going to sell it all in one lot someday....
Nice... my grandfather used to own bogs in Plymouth. I loved picking season as a kid. Red ponds for days!
I'm in Marketing and Business Development for a mobile software company in the Silicon Valley. I used to be a web developer so I mostly manage web related things. Lately I've been "conference guy"... I'm in Boston right now for one. Typical yuppy shit so I got the music thing to keep me cultured and grounded.
I'm a chef at a seasonal seafood restaurant on the jersey shore. Been working for the same people for nine years now. This was my second season as main man. Work my ass off during the summer but the restaurant closes at the end of november and opens again in april. Time to spend some time with the family. Oh yea my wife writes documentation for a software company so we can afford having an off season for me.
Paid work: helpcook at french restauran luxuary spot, Highschool councilor
Volutary work aka most of my time: Co-Pres of an NGO to support community center in Lima Peru...Public Relations intern in Afro-Brazilian cultural NGO
Music: DJ formerly at own night and now event only
Prospects: torn between having more time to work with NGOs b/w starting said african one in Montreal (african festival, tour organization) b/w completing 2 year masters in city
and
completing 1 year masters program in London b/w debt up my ass
I do tech support and product testing for a digital photography company. Trying to move more into the product design side of things now. Either way it's decent job and beats the hell out of being a freelance photo assistant, which was my gig for a while. Too hectic and stressful for the money.
And of course the real job is being a full-time daddy. Haven't DJ'd in a few years now and can't say that I miss it much.
at the moment i am very happy with my career, even though i am a retial pharmacist (work for a major chain) which can get hectic at times (90% of times due to insurances which i have 0 control over), i have a good pharmacy and good staff. Overall my patients really like me.
RARELY dj out anymore (though i am doing a gig this saturday, really not wanting to do it though). I burnt my selfout djing back in college after doing two radio shows, and three consecutive nights at clubs every week. The two radio shows where back to back (5 hours straight) and then i had to rush directly to the club for an additional 4 hours. Saturday nights where rough.
customer service @ major telecommunications company.
that sounds fun
- graphic designer @ central Virginia public broadcasting station (PBS & NPR affiliate[/b] -- Community Idea Stations). mainly print work (ads, one-sheets, monthly program guide)
not feelin' it most of the time, but I get to kick it on here a lot, listen to music, and the company stands for a good purpose. the people I work with are good, but not some of the ones I work for. and there is more drama and crazies than should be here in a non-profit IMO.
- DJ[/b]
doesn't pay as much as I'd like most of the time and I'm not in the best town for this (Richmond), but I am working on some things that should make next year a good one. hopefully, playing what I like for appreciative crowds and getting paid without having to cater to Beckies and Chets or whatever.
this includes volunteering at the University of Richmond radio station doing 2 weekly 2-hour+ shows which is good practice.
*I did get to combine the DJ'ing with our TV station this past Spring when I was part of a taped-for-TV program of up & coming bands. It aired last month and may get picked up in other markets. pretty stoked about that.
Music Listings Editor for the Houston Press. Which pretty much means I review stuff, write features, decide what to cover and edit shit. The downside is the pay isn't the greatest but that's just the world of journalism as a whole. And my only serious gripe is when the work day is done, I don't have the drive to write fiction, something I really want to do more. The rest of the time I DJ and I'm seriously starting to consider if it's a conflict of interest for me to play in Houston any longer. In the future, I wanna keep writing, try some different stuff, trying to pimp a book in the future I'm working on. Spend some more time writing fiction.
First and foremost I'm the father of two college students and a husband for 28 years.
I run the New Product Development area of a large R&D Lab in the specialty chemical field. This includes inventing patentable products, developing field demonstrations to help sell these products and training an International sales force of 1,600+ on how to perform these demos.
For 20 years I've run the Rockadelic label with 65+ vinyl releases. It's been a year since my last one but it looks like I'll be coming out of semi-retirement shortly.
I sell vinyl on ebay under the name "blackholerecords" and have flipped 10,000+ records since 11/98.
Worked on doc films for 10yrs - started as researcher and quit job as Head of Development at a production company last May.
Since January have been at Ministry of the Attorney General at the Branch that is responsible for all the Ministry's buildings and properties(designing, building, maintaining, accomodating inquiries and commissions, etc.). Work in the Director's office doing general day to day stuff as well as on committees developing Ministry-wide emergency plans and records management. It is a huge learning curve for me and that makes it exciting. Also big things going on due to a new courthouse being built and changes in how trials are housed and conducted given things like terrorism and gang cases.
