I believe he meant bands, not single artists

The Ramones are the greatest rock n fuckin' roll band America ever produced, on every level, no contest.

They are one of the bands I was thinking of if we widen the scope from "classic rock" to include punk. They definitely have a claim, as do these guys:

    Rock-N-Roll =
    Rock
    Punk
    Hardcore
    Metal
    "New Wave"
    Grunge
    ???

Beach Boys and The Bad Brains the same?

A Cadillac and a Volkswagen are different, too. But they're both cars.

I mostly post on rock messageboards.

Ok, so now we need to know:
What are the contentious issues on those boards
What is the equivalent of Thriller/OTW
Who is the biggest douche out there and why

    Thanks in advance

Just because they covered a shitload of classic blues and R&B numbers does not make them American. No green card will make it so.

I'd take seeing Funkadelic in their prime with Hazel on guitar over any of the other bands mentioned itt.

  • The Junior High me would say Van Halen.

The High School me would say REM.

Now if we threw in the rest of the world
the Jr. High me would say AC/DC.

... and the High School me would say
    The Smiths.

    CCR

    Steely Dan

    Talking Heads

Might as well mention every U.S. rock band and call it a day.

Yeah, this question is impossible to really answer.

Three Dog Night never gets chirps though.

Actually, you know what? Skel's right. Much as I love the Stooges, they didn't change my life.

Chalk another up to da bruddas.

I'm as big a Ramones fan as you'll find.....started seeing them live before their 1st LP was released.....but there is NO question they had a bigger impact in the UK than they did in the States.

Since no one mentioned them yet, I will say Husker Du.

But actually I would say the Ramones. I rank Van Halen among the worst.
