Unherd said:I don't know who mentioned this album recently, but it's been on repeat over the last couple weeks. Anyone got recommendations for anything similar? I know the basics of what the "steppers" scene is, I think, but I'm sure there are some …

This track by The Kane Gang reminds me of Fagen's IGY:

Hell yeh. I celebrate the entire catalog, esp. the later era "Nearly Human" album. Such a great, underrated soul album, IMO.

Expansion's reissue of Ronnie Mcneir's "Love's Comin' Down" album, with 6 previously unreleased tracks and 1 rare b-side: http://www.amazon.com/Loves-Comin-Down-Ronnie-Mcneir/dp/B004AGN9MQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1296167004&sr=8-2 …

My Scorpio reissue has a paste-on cover. Never seen an original to compare it to.

As I understand it people who make up to 80Kor so will receive credits to help them buy insurance. I am mildly enthusiastic of the bill (step in the right direction), but if there are no regulations on what the insurance industry can charge for …

1a)Louis Johnson's slappy bass That's not a flaw!!!

i was lucky enough to get an advance on this a lil while back... been marinating. my biggest bone to pick is the mic'ing of the drum kit. not feeling it. That's one of my favorite features of the new album. I feel that "Bad Habit" and "Pretty Wing…

Been listening to this since its release this past Tuesday. Great album...the best tracks here are immediately catchy and stand up to his best work, IMO. Current faves are "Help Somebody," "Pretty Wings," and the end instrumental "Pheonix Rise"…

Probably more Thriller/"Baby Be Mine" than OTW, but it is Temperton-related.
-
Though it tends to be considered one of the lesser cuts from OTW, I always enjoyed MJ's version of "Girlfriend":

Two obscure tracks from 2000 that sound like long lost mid-70's AOR classics: The album these tracks come from is excellent and well-worth searching for.

This is my fave Walker solo LP. I always find it to be underrated when compared to Scott 1-4. The songs that comprise the first half of the album are conceptually linked.

How is the prana people lp? Like the Disconnection, PP is another early Prelude which also goes for a fair amount. Good stuff. I believe two of the members are the Aleem Brothers, but I might be mistaken. The MP3's are out there on the blogosph…

Re: Jumbo - I dig the side-long title track, but the rest of the LP is pretty forgettable IMO. I've seen it in the dollar bins around town on more than a few occasions, so I don't believe it is worth too much. One early Prelude I always wanted to …

Anybody record and edit their music on computer, record it to cassette, then record it back into the computer for some good ol' tape saturation? ?
-
Used to do this back in my college days. Very fun, and the images you get are unlike any other, IMO. For me, editing Super 8 was the most entertaining part of the process. Film, editing tape, and the cost of developing are expensive, though.

Sounds great! Digging the brass section on this track.
-
Yeh, it fits the title ("Hard Labor"), but WTF!?!

I have a feeling this post will get quite a few , but I was wondering if any strutters ride for this album: This was my favorie album during my Senior year in high school. I still enjoy tunes like Kinky Afro and God's Cop today as much as the f…
