    Most "rock en Espanol" or any other non-English tongue.

    This can be exciting, but the things that the critics hold up as great all sounds like generic mainstream rock in a different language.

    She is more famous for her status as an edgy pop symbol than for the quality of her voice and/or music. I understand that she pushed the envelope in terms of her videos, fashion, etc., but so did Britney Spears. You can say the same for most pop "icons." I don't have a great voice, but I can belt out a fairly inoffensive rendition of Material Girl. I don't find anything earth shattering about songs such as Like a Prayer and her voice lacks the power and range of other female 80s/90s pop singers like Donna Summer, Gloria Estefan and Whitney Houston.

    So. Over. Rated.

    John Coltrane. I love A Love Supreme and My Favorite Things, but it seems as if anyone I ever come across when I ask them about jazz musicians they'll say Coltrane. Then I'll ask them what their favorite song of his was, and they never have an answer. I feel as if Coltrane has been that reliable answer some people use to let others know how diverse their taste in music is, when it really isn't.
