Which one of these is doing its own thing?
That movie is garbage and that dude who made it is a creepy perv.
I love that film and Happiness both. His subsequent movies have all had major flaws.
I interviewed him once, and he comes across as a friendly and balanced, if quirky, individual (not pervy and/or disturbed). I've also seen him introduce films more than once, and he's a charmer in those situations -- works the audience better than most stand-ups can/do.

Evarry Christmas. "Karate Man bruise on the inside". Worthy just for the bit where Dan Ackroyd is eating the salmon throgh the Santa beard.
Happiness is probably the most deeply disturbing movie I've seen. And while I give it credit for that, and understand these movies and what he's trying to do, I just really don't appreciate them at all.

Anything spoofing the pretentious people in the fashion industry is good in my book.
But it's not even accurate - it was more of a spoof of the Sears catalogue world or the manufacturing industry. Nothing makes fun of that world more than itself. Watch an interview with Lagerfeld or Tara Subkoff or listen to stylists trying to justify 80lb girls or read W or Purple and you'll get all the chuckles about these fools you'll ever need.

you madd cause you a wannabe fashionista
but you're right, it was not an "accurate" depiction of the real fashion world. Zoolander was not intended to be a spoof of the serious/dark side of the fashion industry.
the fact that Duchovny was a hand model , and that Zoolander made his mark with the "International Male" catalogue and the whole Member's Only warehouse scene, etc. the whole subplot about the fact that Mugatu's line was produced in a sweatshop pointed to the fact that the "fashion" world they were spoofing was sort of the played-out mass-produced fashion market (see: VH1 awards, etc.), not the real, (arguably) serious high fashion world.
they were basically Gap-catalogue-level models, not cutting edge haute couture models like they they thought they were. the fact that the guys took themselves seriously as real models was just an added layer of subtle humor.

Not really a fair comparison though. I mean..."Money Pit"?
And "When Harry Met Sally" and "Welcome to the Dollhouse" aren't really the same kind of comedy.

DING DING DING!!!!!!! We have a winner!!!!! You're the new champion of the whole entire world times infinity. Yowsah.
Welcome To The Dollhouse....I can totally see the "which one of these is doing it's own thing" comment.... but it is a comedy full and through - just a dark one. Are you kidding me? "You think you're hot shit but you're really just cold diarrhea"......Every scene with The Quadratics? When she calls her friend Richie a faggot? I'm not a huge fan of dude's other movies....but this movie is really something else. Weiner Dog might be one of the best characters of the nineties...
And dude....if you don't like Trading Places.....really just walk away. Do you even like early Eddie Murphy? Raw and Delirious both suck too huh?

raw and delirious, while great, are both sonned by killing them softly.
dont believe me go and watch them sober when you're not 12 yrs old.
:5pager:
matter of fact: bring the pain >>> killing them softly >>> never scared >>> bigger badder blacker >>> delirious >>> raw

Thing is - Ayres' hands really are butter soft.
