As someone who has spent several years working in an Emergency Room, obviously doctors have all the same shortcomings as the rest of us. Which is to say that any 'type' of person can fall under the spell of fanaticism.
But I do know that people swear to love, honor, cherish and obey all the time, and divorce 50% of the time. As Fatback said in another thread, people lie in court all the time. Do oaths mean anything anymore?
