One of the big reasons why scoring is down and thus the NBA currently sucks tremendously
Scoring's been up the past two years, dude. 05-06 saw three guys averaging 30+ a night (and a fourth averaging 29 and change)--first time that had happened since the eighties.
Team scoring is still pathetic. The fast break is now a rarity. Teams don't even try to push it anymore. It's like they're not only waiting for their own guys to get into position on the offensive end, they also wait for the opposing defensive players to get into their positions as well.
You sound like a dude who only played ball because you're freakishly tall...like Frankenstein.
i wish. the more you post in the nba thread, the less reason i have to check it. you sound like the grumpy old man at the bar who hasn't watched an nba game in 20 years. listen up basketball novice, the talent level in the nba right now is on par if not better than it has ever been. if it seems diluted compared to the golden era of jordan, magic and bird...that's because a) there are more teams, b) there are younger players, and c) there aren't as many scrubs making the stars look like stars (notice how many less american white dudes there are on each roster).
97% of players sport identical tactics/moves/proficiency.
I dunno... I would say that more than 3% of the players are truely unique. Look at the "superstars" for example. I can only think of one 7-footer who settles for a fading jumper. That's, uh... unique.

Slow your roll there Texas Ranger.
OK, 110 and 107 points a game aren't too shabby.
So I'm glad that things are getting better in some cities.

I believe your evaluation is slightly off, since it is based on a more player-centric one.
Hello? Is anybody home?
What's the argument about here?
I seem to recall it about being about the stats that an individual player is going to put up this year.

uniqueHakeem Olajuwan[/b].
Steve Nash is unique. Manu Ginobli is unique. Shawn Marion has a unique jumpshot. TJ Ford is a unique passer.
Kobe is awesome, but not unique. Dirk is not unique. Duncan is not unique.
Durant is gonna have a lot of pressure on him. With Oden out and all the extremely early rookie of the year predictions anything less than the ridiculous scoring that you are describing will be seen as a dissapointment. But he is still a skinny rookie who is gonna be defended by all the "defensive specialists" of the league with a chip on their shoulder. His character will truly be tested by all of these expectations. Hopefully for him Carlessimo is not still the abusive bastard that he was when he was head coach of Portland and Golden State. Although it would be kinda funny if Earl Watson tried to strangle him during practice.

Were you at some point recruited out of PE class to play on the basketball team?

Again, y'all try to diminish dude's game but he's "settling" at a 50%/26ppg clip. Where are all the other dudes who can so easily do this? Yeah, off-balance, off-leg jumpers from the elbow, everyone is hitting those w/ regularity.
And I completely disagree w/ Harvey's "unique" theory and your bias shows in it. TJ Ford is a nice lil' player but there is nothing particularly "unique" about dude's passes in a league where J. Kidd and others still roam.

I guarantee that I've played, attended (did any of y'all see in person Jordan, Worthy, Ewing, Olajuwon, and Drexler play while they were still in college?) and watched basketball as much as anyone on this board over the course of the past 30 years.
But it's true that I haven't watched much regular-season NBA basketball the past few years.

what were you, 4 or 5 years old when you went to these college games?
Give me 3 straight years where the league averages over 100 points a game per team and then I'll back off from my entirely valid point.
Scoring is overated. Get over it. It doesnt tell the whole story.

I was 4 or 5 when my dad took his friend instead of me to see Tony Dorsett play in college. I saw John Elway though a couple of years after that.
Yes, I'm old...and wise.

Since when have you even come close to making a point in this thread, much less a valid one? You come in here and parade around a bunch of worthless, outdated information then you leave for a few weeks until somebody starts talking about something Texas related, repeat cycle.

Did you happen to go to a Big East school?
No - Division 3 B-Ball.

That jock strap that you have draped across your nose is actually not mine. Sorry to tell you that. I don't know who gave it to you under the guise of it belonging to me...for I have always refused to wear one.
But again, lil dudes who take the NBA too seriously might as well simultaneously point to The Clipse as the unfuckwitable pinnacle of "crack rap".

Excellent entry into this thread! WELCOME.
98.8 ppg:
105 ppg
Lakers, Dallas, Memphis, Utah, Sac--
If you're not seeing interesting games with incredible scoring, you're not watching.

nice PE joke though.

Durant will be happy to get 18-20 ppg average this season.
