  • Better Off Dead

    best teenage movie evar?

not even close. when's the last time you saw it? I urge you to compare it seriously to fast times, 16 candles, some kind of wonderful, valley girl, say anything, dazed and confused, or even she's all that!

and those are just pre-morning-cup-of-coffee-off-the-dome selections.

and not to mention the teen science fiction subgenre, eg.g wierd science, back to the future, etc.

better off dead doesn't hold up. saw it recently and didn't laugh at all.

  • This thread has reminded me of what I consider two of the most overrated films of all time: Shawshank Redemption and City of God.

Another overlooked favorite of mine is Il Ladro di Bambini. Keeping it in Italy, my favorite Antonioni has to be Professione: Reporter.

And while visually great and poetic, Soy Cuba lacks the substance I expect from truly great films.

  • Playtime

    Au Hasard Balthasar
    Vertigo

    The Wizard of Oz

Yeah, probably my favorite too, in addition to The Merchant of Four Seasons and Berlin Alexanderplatz which isn't really a 'film' per se.

These were all just so successful and really had something to say.

And I'd like to put either Goodfellas or Raging Bull in there as well as City of God, but I already kinda cheated by putting Godfather 1&2 together.
