not even close. when's the last time you saw it? I urge you to compare it seriously to fast times, 16 candles, some kind of wonderful, valley girl, say anything, dazed and confused, or even she's all that!
and those are just pre-morning-cup-of-coffee-off-the-dome selections.
and not to mention the teen science fiction subgenre, eg.g wierd science, back to the future, etc.
better off dead doesn't hold up. saw it recently and didn't laugh at all.

Another overlooked favorite of mine is Il Ladro di Bambini. Keeping it in Italy, my favorite Antonioni has to be Professione: Reporter.
And while visually great and poetic, Soy Cuba lacks the substance I expect from truly great films.

damn it! i forgot about Fassbinder. I'd like to add Chinese Roulette which reminds me of The Damned (Visconti) which I'd also like to add.
What happened to make you so morose.
cosign. my favorite Fassbinder is Ali which is kind of a remake of my favorite Douglas Sirk movie All That Heaven Allows.
Yeah, probably my favorite too, in addition to The Merchant of Four Seasons and Berlin Alexanderplatz which isn't really a 'film' per se.
