me thunks images are important in this thraed, not lists (nice list, you see that guys list on strut?).......people need nostalgia jolts, it's like a cattle prod to the scrote......illuminating.
I like the Fleischer cartoons a lot. Popeye and Betty Boop.
I agree about this one. Perfect stuff to waste your afternoon with:
I like much of US cartoons and Italian stuff like La Linea but actually, Czech cartoons are killing it for me. There's so much of it, incredible stuff.
Cute as a button one minute then realer than real the next.
Animals and people get killed in a 60's cartoon for kids. Never saw anything like it at the time.
Ralph Bakshi's Spider-Man?
and let's not even take it to Bakshi's version of Mighty Mouse.
Tom & Jerry purists hate the dozen or so shorts that far out Czech cartoonist Gene Deitch made in the 60's, but for me they represent some of the most bugged out & bizarre examples of animation ever made.
Again,
By far the most underrated character in the Warner Bros. cannon, created and exclusively handled by the most underrated animation director at Warners, Robert McKimson...
I like much of US cartoons and Italian stuff like La Linea[/b] but actually, Czech cartoons are killing it for me. There's so much of it, incredible stuff.
They used to show La Linea shorts during The Great Space Coaster. I use to be like, "HUH????!!!"
Foghorn leghorn is the best! He takes it as much as he dishes it. I wish the same could be said for bugs bunny. Oh yea I was a big fan of speed racer and marine boy. Ultraman was the shit but not a cartoon.
and really anything else from the 80s; transformers, muppet babies, super mario brothers, ninja turtles, fat albert
anyone remember the cartoon "PROSTARS" which featured crime-fighting cartoon versions of Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretsky and Bo Jackson? their weapons were their respective sports equipment.
shit was definately
the only (semi) recent cartoon i ever got into aside from the more "adult" cartoons today (family guy, southpark and shit) would have to be
i have alot of those episodes on tape, shit was epic as hell with the crazy miniseries'
All old Warner Brothers stuff, esp Bugs Bunny and Foghorn Leghorn Mighty Heroes Tom Terrific Simpsons Futurama Catscratch Spongebob Squarepants Some of the 60's Hanna Barbera stuff (Magilla Gorilla, Top Cat, Peter Potamus etc) Underdog Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse Samurai Jack Late 60's Lone Ranger cartoons (very dark, can't remember who did them) old Beatles cartoons Mr Magoo (60's) Dick Tracy (60's)
Silver Surfer Woody Woodpecker Heckle & Jeckle Pink Panther Ma & Pa Voltron......but the team made up of cars/planes/other shit. Seemed darker than the 5 lions version. Batman Beyond Batman and the Super 7 Challenge of the Super Friends Marvel Superheroes 60's animation. Hulk/Captain America/Sub-Mariner/Thor/Iron Man Fantastic Four 60's & 80's DC's 60's Superheroes stuff...........Teen Titans/Superboy/Aquaman/Flash
I actually have some Mighty Heroes bootled DVD ish. I always thought some surf band should do a cover of the 'Mighty Heroes Theme' (and some rockabilly band should do the 'Courageous Cat Theme')...
