Contested!
What they said.
Beginning Of The End is only good for Funky Nassau
9th Creation has some good intros, but I'm not sure I like any of the songs all the way through.
Ernie Hines is a one tracker
Yaina is a bit too mellow for me. I'd take a Mongo Santamaria over that in a second.
there are at least 5 hot tracks on beginning of the end.
9th creation was a personal preference, i just dig the record.
It seems like when these threads turn up, people always mention Meters, Kool and the Gang etc. People on here should know all about these records. Come let's get just a bit deeper.
Here's some titles off the top of the head that I feel are worth their going-rates.
-The New Rotary Connection "Hey, Love" -Chocolate Milk "Action Speak Louder than Words" -Carol Woods "Out of the Woods" -Satisfaction Unlimited "Think of the Children" -Larry Saunders "Free Angela" -Main Street "Same" (Koala) -Sam Dees "The Show Must Go On" -Don Blackman "Same"
Did everybody dry up on LPs to post in this thread?
-Shuggie Otis "Information Inspiration" eventhough it's one of the obvious ones. -Edna Wright "Oops! Here I go again" nice greg perry production. Several good track. -Amarican Gypsy "Same" on Chess/Philips. Great great LP in my opinion with great sound. "Inside Out"+"Golden Ring"+"Lady Eleanor" are great tunes and "Stuck on You" is amazing too, plus more stuff. In addition tp this, it's also a good one for the beat diggers, and featured on Brain Freeze.
Let me add some to this list:
First 7 or so Axelrod solo joints (nm US)
I think it's more like 50 and up in excellent condition. I'm not positive though.
winter in america is more like $15-20 max, if its mint. also, gears is like a 20-30 record.
great 50-100 records:
pharoahs- the awakening
ray barretto-acid
baby huey story (this is more like a 50-60 record)
catalyst- s/t (more like a 50-60 record)
demon fuzz- afreaka
incredible bongo band is essential in my opinion. talk about a bangin ass UBB record. its gotta be one of the most solid start to finish bboy record out there...so much more than just apache
45 king/ latee - brainstorm EP is $75-100 well spent in my opinion
so is PhanJam at round $50.
yay
Harlem River Drive is well worth 50-60
nay
not too sure Moog Indigo is worth dropping 50 on
yay
i just got impala syndrome for 75 (in trades). im just digging into how super solid it is
nay
i just passed on the savage stk for 75. i definitely want it, but i think i can wait till i get it for 30.
yay
Kellee Patterson
Egg on Deram
super cosine on Afreaka. extra essential
Depends on where you live or who's bidding on it. I have 3 clean copies including a white label stereo and a white label mono and I only paid a total of 53.00 for all three.
Winter in America is one of those LPs where posting Popsike results is irrelevant, at least if you live in any kind of somewhat urban united states area whatsoever. I see that record everywhere around Boston, and even the most notorious pipe dream pricer stores around here rarely ask more than $15 for it.
I can't believe someone would pay over $5.00 for this.
How's that? It's not easy to find in the field, at least not MA and it's got one really nice track...Maybe it's old news, but i think 5 is low regardless.

To each his own but I personally don't think that his version of A Time For Us is anywhere near worth a 25 dollar record. I found one in MA down in Taunton at the Flea Market. If you have never been there go see Wayne.

Cool. Yea, never been down there. Unfortunately, http://www.tauntonfleamarket.com/, says that they have went out of business. I've only been to the one in Raynham , which I haven't had much luck with. Very pricey for beat up records...

Worse, South Western Florida. The digging is so bad here a good day for me is finding a Fonzi record someone drew a beard on (See May Finds).
I've never had luck finding that Hammond in the wild and when I see mint copies sell online they are always pricey!
I'll Holla, thanks Leon

Just looked up the Gears LP on Popsike, looks like the median is $46. Oh well. Still think it's a $30 record, and a good one at that! :bizzo:
:balla:

Funny how 10 year old prices get stuck in your head as the standard.
