I'll make up for my missed day with two fugging brilliant tracks from Mr Mighty Burner himself, Charles Earland
and I heard this one and was like, "if this isn't melvin sparks on guitar and idris on drums I'll eat my hat". it remains uneaten. idris finds a way to make a one-two-three-four snare "northern" style drum lick sound funky
JB demonstrating his weirdly sort of uncharacteristic restraint at the B3. I feel like his organ records are so weirdly tastefully understated considering his performance style as a vocalist/bandleader/general showman.
OK another double hitter for two days' worth - Roger Rivas again, reggae again, but with a seasonal flavor. How the hell does he get his organ tone and production so right!?
Happy new year. Seriously go back and listen to that black on white affair auld lang syne. Uuuggghhhhh. Here's one to bring in 2020, a more recent organ funk auld lang syne from Funk Night Records.
This deserves some shine, it's off otis funkmeyer's 2019 funk spotify playlist so shout to that thread. I don't know the gents making this but it's good
I don't know anything about this track and can't be bothered to google, but at some point I copied it and it sounds nice to me. I also like that the uploader's idea of a nightcap is a goblet of water and some dry frosted mini-wheats
Aussie's on my mind already given current events so let's stay there. Some nice metersy tribute stuff from early Cookin On 3 Burners, a 45 I got when I went to Melbourne:
The "Nitecap" tune is out of Atlanta and was put on Numero's Tragar & Note label comp.
The only Australian new funk outfit I was aware of is the Bamboos and Karate Boogaloo, the later which I have heard of only recently because of material from their recent mixtape albums playing on local college radio. Never heard of any of these other groups. Thanks.
Another Aussie outfit, funny how much throwback funk energy there is in that place. I think these guys are from Brisbane. Now I'm taking a break from this thread as I appear to be about to become a parent imminently
Another Mittoo-esque Roger Rivas track. He's such a good homage/pastiche player, alternating between Winston Wright and Jackie as needed. And his own style too, of course.

a xmas miracle!
From a soundtrack that pops up once in a while here in Los Angeles.
Here's some extremely low fidelity farfisa (or the like) noodling by Lucky Brown, who I think is a pseudonymed current musician.
