    You dudes should try listening to artists' on their own merit(s) some time. You'll never be satisfied if you keep comparing whomever to your own idea of perfection.

    I didnt bring up Maxwell. And Patterson was mentioned in a quoted article.

    Read the entire thread before yo taze me bro.

    I brought up Maxwell, and of the artists I mentioned I think that was the biggest stretch/most tangential. But I hear it.

    I definitely hear a lot of Stevie in him, vocally. And can hear Shuggie in the arrangements.

    Dude sounds kinda like Musiq Soulchild, but has much more interesting writing and arrangement going on.

    On third listen, I'm skipping through about half of it. The rich fine young things stories are a little too Beverly Hills 90210 for me. Otherwise, what I'm liking, I'm really liking. A lot of beautiful moments.
    Stevie, absolutely. A friend of mine also likened it to Dwele, who I am not that familiar with to say one way or another..?

    I've come to the conclusion that only white kids (dats meh) like the Dream, and that black folk could care less about him. Most say dude is soft, but if Dream is, FO is molasses { I tried going below soft}

    I'm going to have to retract from my first post somewhat. For all the conversations we've had here about separating the art from the artist, I have to admit that having the context of his real life makes the music more meaningful and enjoyable. CO is not a great leap from his past music that didn't do anything for me (I went back to Nostalgia and it still doesn't), but this, I like more than the rest!
    And it's no secret round here as far as what I find hot - him singing about another dude is sexy as f*ck.

    The Dream is kinda goofy to me.

    Frank Ocean does most of the production and writing with the NW homie Malay.
