Just curious, how can you have 10 or more Velvet Underground or Mission of Burma records?

I haven't counted in a long time, but I'm quite sure James Brown is in the lead.
Others with ten or more records:
Gil Scott-Heron
Swamp Dogg
Howlin' Wolf
Isley Brothers
Thin Lizzy
Johnny Cash
Rolling Stones
Grass Roots
Al Green
A "ten or more" listing might be interesting. I've had ten or more by 6 of the 10 on that list at various times.
Right now?
Albert Ayler
Kinks
Stones
Van Morrison
Meic Stevens
Dylan
Sun City Girls
The Fall
Stranglers
Acid Mother Temple
Bevis Frond
Sun Ra
Neil Young
Sunburned Hand Of The Man
Jackie-O Motherfucker
Jack Rose
Beatles
Bert Jansch
Jandek
Christy Moore
Clancy Brothers
Keiji Haino
Fushitsusha

Roy Harper
AMM
Charlemagne Palestine
Nurse With Wound
No Neck Blues Band
Amon Duul
Bardo Pond
Charalambides
Brother JT
Loren Connors
Leonard Cohen
Dead Moon

Hypothetically, you've got
- the four albums they released while they were together
- the live reunion album from the nineties
- Live At Max's Kansas City and 1969
- VU and Another View
- that 1970 compilation in MGM's Golden Archive series
That's ten right there.
And I know I didn't mention the "Quine Tapes" albums, the LP they did without Lou Reed (released only in the UK), plus that Lou Reed & the Velvet Underground album on Pride (I left that one out because I didn't know whether it was a compilation or a straight reish of one of the Verve LP's). So, it can be done...
Boots, singles, and (in the case of Burma) a set of 8 single-sided etched 12-inch singles.

The "Sweet Sister Ray" 2LP boot which every real VU fan should have.
There have been many VU boots and I have a few.

I have at least 20 VU Boots and almost all of them are essential.
Sweet Sister Ray is one of the best, and I recommend 'Live '68' for some of the hardest rocking VU. I also like virtually anything from '65 - '66.
The more I read others' lists, the more I realize there are artists I've left out.
I was and still am heavy on the David Bowie. Space Oddity, Ziggy, Man Who Sold The World. All that stuff.
Kraftwerk
Giorgio Moroder
Moody Blues
Ahmad Jamal
Yusef Lateef
Ultramagnetic/Kool Keith
Francis Lai
Les Baxter (yeah, I'm heavy on the lounge/exotica music)
New Order/Joy Division
I'll probably remember a few more when I take the time out to look at my collection. Again.
this is too good not to post. i started thinking about this question last night for some reason.
i was thinking my answer would probably be Miles Davis, but after doing some counting, it looks like the artist i have the most records by (NOT including CDs, tapes, etc) is...
Gary Burton!!!
Miles was a close second though.
other artists by whom i have 10 or more records:
John Coltrane
Roy Ayers
Bob Marley
John McLaughlin
James Brown
Earth Wind and Fire
Stevie Wonder
Robert Fripp/King Crimson
Neil Young
Joni Mitchell
I'm sure there are some more too.
most of these artists, there are still LPs that i need by them, too!
Because as prolific as he is, I still can't see him issuing 300 albums in 32 years without including a mess of bootlegs.
You're right, my mistake. That's included 12"es, 45s, foreign pressings of the same album (yo...) and all the nerdy picture discs. Been sitting on the shelves for years now as i stopped collecting his record. Anyway, Prince was, towards the end of the eighties, my intro to funk music and to vinyl as a medium.

Apparently I am the only Led Zeppelin fan on this site...
600+ LPs, 300+ 7"s, hundreds of tapes, cds, posters, etc.
And you're the guy with the Zep puck, too, correct?

:oof:
I included CD's and LP's together on my list.
Wasn't thinking about the forty-fives, which, as you've noted, are another story for another time.
I think I have 40+ lps
#2 would probably be Coltrane
600+ LPs, 300+ 7"s, hundreds of tapes, cds, posters, etc.
:necessary:
Neil
Beatles
Nina
Fela
De La
Too Short
JB
Does my almost-complete MC Twist discography count?
