By a wide margin
Bobbie Gentry
JB
Wu Tang and affiliates
the reggae productions can go on and on
Coxsone Dodd
Lee Perry
Prince/King Jammy
King Tubby
Donald Byrd
Henry Mancini
Ferrante and Teicher
Paul Mauriat
Currently Curtis and Isaac are head and head.
Not really. He was 1) good, 2) prolific and 3) his albums aren't crazy $$$.
I certainly have more Tjader albums than any other jazz artist in my collection. Probably more than any Latin artist (though I suspect Joe Bataan wins this one).
In soul, I'd definitely be on the James Brown boat too.
yusef lateef
sun ra
and, erm, bjork...
Gangstarr (six LPs + eleven 12"s, not including doubles!)
Fruko (I have at least 10 by him I think)
Afrosound (10 LPs)
Michi Sarmiento (7/8 LPs, "Hong Kong" 45, "Tihuanaco" 45)
b/w
The most copies of a single record title, I would have to go with my 8 copies of Dennis Coffey's Evolution, 7 copies of Soul Searchers Salt of the Earth LP, the 5/6 copies of Ray Barretto's Acid LP, just realized I have 6 copies of Love Unlimited Orchestra's My Sweet Summer Suite LP.
All of the above titles I just buy instinctively whenever I see em for cheap.
We could start a new thread about this, too^^^^^
Andrew Hill
Jackie McLean
in that order.
I'm surprised that it wasn't Miles Davis or Coltrane.
I've had several hundred copies of a Boston random rap comp from 1986 called Boston Goes Def. Hundreds each of some 12"s too, as I believe you know. You should really let me holler at one of those Soul Searchers joints though!
Chaka Khan
Minnie Ripperton
Sun City Girls are close, too.
