as frustrating as this was to see in live play, given the result (and the fact that he was in fact offside), I am glad this played out this way --- it would have been annoying to hear the moans from any army of pundits that would have claimed bias from the refs.

Glad that Moyes finally got to see the bluenoses win at the swamp, though.

All I can say is how laughable anyone would think Suarez is 40 mill and a pound...

After last weeks bomb... Todays win with United loss... All is right in the Universe once again.

Only thing that would have made it better if this had gone in.

Alright, 40 million + 1 pound, a signed Bergkamp shirt, and season tickets at the Emirates for Brenda. :-P

Great goals from Suarez. My landlord went to the bookies and bet AGAINST Suarez scoring 3 goals or more. If I was a betting man I'd like to know what the odds are on Ferg coming out of retirement by X-Mas.

    Bendtner scored last night! Bendtner.

Contrary to what I just wrote about Ferg doing a Scholes

Our first game is against Italy in some part of Brazil that Euroman will struggle to adapt to. Then we play Uruguay. It could be all over by the time we get to play Costa Rica.

I'm looking at the calendar now, England plays Italy in Manaus at 10pm, when the temperature will be bearable.

The USA! plays Portugal in the same stadium, but at 3pm. Cristiano Ronaldo's hair products will face their toughest test.

I'm willing to put money down right now. When Portugal gets knocked out. Many fans will suddenly become Brazilian.

Interesting. England will of course exit on pennos in the quarters, so don't sweat it kids.

And whatever happens, it'll be cooler than Qatar, where the FIFA dudes will be sweating the most, as their pockets have been heavily-lined already.

    F*cking Qatar.

    Jokers the lot of 'em.

all of my portuguese friends keep their size 8 yellow havaianas handy for just such an occasion.

  • this tournament should all but guarantee that the united states never cares about football again.

OOF!!! for the US of A -- lets hope Jurgen can pull some magic out of his hat for this one...

Well, at some point in time I suppose will have to beat Ghana (they've helped knock us out in the past 2 WC's) and Portugal is beatable...kinda....especially if that one guy decides to have an off game.

But yeah, tough looking tournament for the Von Trapps.

    B/W
    Belgium gonna win it all?

My knowledge is limited to the reaction of the pundits on the tv, that this was one place we really wanted to avoid. Talking about 98% humidity or some such. Gotta get your excuses in early.

  • does anyone believe these groupings are entirely lottery random? i can point out at least 10 things that would suggest otherwise.

is the first of those the fact that the balls used in the draw were in fact lizard eggs pulled out of the ovaries of LIZARD PEOPLE?

    LOL.

If I was a gambling man, I'd put coin on the hosts. Backhanders on an epic scale-R.

FIFA are game as we know, certainly the since the 7-0 in Argentina... My point being, as Jobim said, "Brasil is not for beginners."

There's more than one GoD up in this bith.
For meriman, Ghana and Portugal are both winnable games, especially if CR7 gets crocked "early doors".

For the island apes, game 1 is always a draw, Uruguay will crumble if we can crock Betty "early doors", all we need is a jammy win vs tha Rich Coast and its just like 66 all over again.

    Simplaos.
