I missed a film called Monsters in January. It was playing at a local cinema that specialises in cult screenings and such, but I think this was a new release. Set in Mexico. Half the country has been cordonned-off after an asteriod with alien life crashed in the jungle. Bloke has to get across it to see his family or something.

Sadly haven't seen it yet but it's right at the top of my to-see list. Don't think it got a general cinema release but got Sight & Sound's film of the month (yes, I know, I am a geek) which is rare for a film that isn't subtitled and about something gruelling. All I really know about it is that it's essentially a two header, the guy did his own special effects, and it's meant to be very good. Apparently the guy who made it is now lined up for various big budget movies including a new Godzilla so would be nice to see something by him before it all goes to shit.
Planning on grabbing it very soon so will report back if I do get hold of it.
I've had it sitting on my hard-drive for a while now waiting to be watched in its entirety (I started but was then distracted by something - I don't recall by what). It looks pretty impressive considering how it was made & not just the special fx.
It's really a road movie, fairly sedate in tone with added monster menace. It's definitely not your average Monster invasion movie.
I???d been frustrated for some time by the constraints of the mainstream media and in various press-rooms and bars across the world, I???d come to realise I wasn???t the only one who felt journalism as a whole was missing something, that there should be more space for more in-depth pieces, for detailed reportage, history and analysis. Was there a way, I wondered, to accommodate articles of several thousand words? Could we do something that was neither magazine nor book, but somewhere in between?
As I floated thoughts and theories to anyone who would listen, I became aware there were other writers so keen to break the shackles of Search Engine Optimisation and the culture of quotes for-quotes???-sake that they were prepared to write for a share of potential profit, that the joy of writing what they wanted and felt was important outweighed the desire to be paid. The only problem, I explained to those around the table in Fitzys, was finding a publisher equally willing to take the gamble.

The tackle on Nani wasn't pretty, but drama that ensued afterwards dissolved any remaining sympathy. He will be missed. Although it was but a scratch, so I'm sure he'll be back too soon.
I'm tempted to transfer him out & put in an Arsenal player, but I just know that'll be the kiss of death for them. - I put in Cahil last week, at a cost, but hopefully to gain from the double game week, only for him to get injured midweek. So I had to sub him out, costing me another 4 points. - Pretty much sums up my FPL season.

I would be hesitant to state that Utd are falling apart. I think when we finally get Park back it will make a massive difference as he was outstanding before his international duty and subsequent injury. We are also missing both central defenders and playing gormless twat Brown which pretty much guarantees the opposition some goals ( I didn't even watch the match on Sunday when I saw our central partnership).
I do think however that Arsenal won't get many better chances than this to win the league so we'll see what happens.
By the way, that Nani challenge is a dirty piece of work. However I've long been aware that Carragher gets the kind of preferential treatment from refs usually reserved for international favourites (just notice how many clumsy penalty decisions go his way). Not moaning as not that much of a hypocrite but still very noticeable.

I still think the best is yet to come from this Arsenal squad, but this does look like an open season, just that everybody is having difficulty finding consistency. Dropping points at Sunderland really isn't the mark of Champions-elect. It's Man U's to lose, and if they let this slip, I think that it will have long-term consequences for the team. Looking at Chelsea, their run of bad results has been most damaging in that other teams have lost a certain respect that they would've once had for Chelsea.
Reeewind to that Diaby own-goal game shortly after the sale of Ronaldo, beginning of the season, Man U looked woeful, there for the taking. Buuut, the Arse hadn't the confidence to really press forward in numbers and take the game to them, perhaps all too aware of the way that Ronaldo & Park had punished them on counter-attacks at the end of the previous season. It's a big if, but if we had really hammered them that day when they still looked uncertain, they may not have gotten back into that winning mentality, other teams may have taken the game to them with more confidence, they may not have started this season as defending champions. If.
Anyway, I'm more inclined to see 9.30 pm as the point at which Arsenal concentrate on the league. No more wasted chances against teams we should be beating. No more slipped leads.
No more injuries would be nice, too.

agreed in that, this season is the best chance for the Arse to win the PL, but also agree that the lack of consistency makes it very open. all teams are dropping points to teams they "shouldn't", so it will probably dependent on who else does so between here and the end of the season.
as for Le Arse, over the past two weeks (Carling & Sunderland) i've seen again that without Cesc in the squad, you just cant expect the best out of the rest of the team. i can only hope we can keep him for at least one more season (or more), as i don't yet see any natural replacement for him yet.

Yeah agree with this though I do think it's been that way for a while now. Last season was a big mess where we were managing to stay in contact mainly through the prolific strike rate of Teh Wayne and even though we went god knows how long without any wins when he got injured we only lost by a point to a similarly misfiring Chelsea. The season before was similar and only ended up an inevitably thanks to Liverpool's horrendous collapse. Either smaller clubs are getting better at an incredible rate or, more likely, none of the big guns have really been firing for a few years.
Same thing seems to be happening to most of the big clubs in Europe too though not as noticeable due to the piss poor quality of many of the smaller clubs in their leagues.
Mancini has to finish top 4 or he's out. Hence the safe tactics. Plus, this is a squad that has had no time to evolve around a solid core, like Un*ited, 'Ski or the Wenger boys. If we can hang on for 4th then City will look better next season once the pecking order has been established.
