ahhh, I like that break...I always thought that song was called "The Vulture"

ok, now someone beatbox the rest of them for me. I'm almost ready to discuss the shit out of these breaks

  • drag rap is some 88 rap shit from the south I believe. A lot of southern producers have incorporated the "doooodoooo doooodooooo doooodooooo dooooodoooo" part into thur tracks. Definetly not a " break" just some shit southern cats like to pay homage to.

    Definetly not a " break"

    But definitely a sample

I like the Lou Donaldson and Sylvia Striplin, both excellent tracks, one reason alone - they can be played out - unlike some of the others which are only good for a 2 second sample.

The Showboys 'Drag Rap (Triggerman)' (Profile) 1985 -> pretty much the blueprint for New Orleans - similar to how Original Concept 'Can You Feel It?' (Def Jam) 1986 is for Miami (bass)...

    Hey, I like that one!

Of course, there are some others on there that I wouldn't mind never hearing again. I won't mention which, for fear of my Real Headz Cratez Diggerz 4 Life Membership Card being revoked.

Yeah, puhleeeze.... any "greatest breaks" list that doesn't include Substitution is a totally worthless list IMO. I know it's hard to narrow it down to 30 with all the breaks out there, but come on.

I don't recall it makin' crazy noise (no Stezo) in the Northeast when it was released; I understand that it eventually made its way down south to N'Awlins where it become a staple (so much so that a mainstream music publication such as Spin cited it as pivotal in an article years later on the then burgeonin'/nationally-emergin' bounce scene)...
