    Paul Mooney is the man.

yes! I've had the pleasure of seeing Mooney almost every time he's been to the Bay for the last several years. He kills it every time.

Arnez J had an incredible run w/ Def Jam Comedy and Bet Comedy Jam.

Isn't he the one who used to do the little kid impressions...

Can you imagine the field day Hicks would have had with American Idol.

    Hicks is #1.

    Bruce
    Carlin
    Pryor
    Kaufman

    Round out my Top 5

    Mitch Hedberg gets honorable mention.

co sign on Gervais and Pilkington. on a similar not, i have been listening to Russel Brand's pre-getting fired from the BBC podcasts and he has had me giggling away.

But yeah, Rocks list. thats it.

Ricky Gervais' podcast with Pilkington is comedy gold. It's so an act but it's really funny. Gervais just shits on Karl's dumb-ass theories while Stephen Merchant tries to get Ricky to be quiet let Karl explain himself further and provide more ludicrous insight into the nature of man and other things.

Eddie Izzard has a great stand-up routine. The Death Star canteen routine is a classic.

I'm a big fan of George Lopez, but I don't understand how non-Mexicans/Latinos can relate to his comedy. It's very observational (culturally-speaking).

I was feelin him before his Tv show.

I'm talking about his stand-up more than the show. His stand up is pretty much my day-to-day interaction with my family.

Is that meant to be an example of him being funny, or sucking at being funny?

    I'm significantly funnier.

I watched some of this dude's Madison Square Garden show on Comedy Central last night. I do not think he is very funny at all. Why is this guy doing shows in big arenas? Do any of you folls think he is funny? Not my kind of comedy.

He's right up there with Carrot Top and ventriloquists.

I just got back from a patio session with some friends. My one buddy got talking about something and related it to an episode of Seinfeld.

Gisele, who was part of our group gets all "Seinfeld is terrible! Not funny at all. It's annoying and stupid."

Y'all know where this is headed...

So I ask her who or what she finds funny. And just as she says Dane Cook I'm laughing my ass off and telling her how terrible he is. The dudes around me concurred, and some of the ladies are like "nah, he's funny", while other ladies haven't heard of him.

This is far from scientific evidence, but I'm convinced that people who DO find him funny are mainly women...like 85% maybe.

You don't like David Cross, Dane Cook or Brian Regan. That's like 3 completely different styles wiped out. Who's comedy do you prefer?

Who's (sic) comedy do you prefer?

People who are funny ... ?

I think David Cross is hilarious, just not doing standup.

I'll admit I am not a huge fan of standup in general, but come
on, that ironing board shit was terrible.

I like Chris Rock's standup. He's probably the only person I've
watched a special from in the past few years. I don't know, I can
totally enjoy standup, but I feel like too many people go into that
shit so ready to laugh that the most mundane crap can get a response.
