Considering how much of Stax/Volt's titles were distributed through Atlantic, it comes close though I'm assuming there were smaller releases that may not have made it to the Atlantic network.
HOW rare is this? one of very few LP's i kick myself for not buying the one time i saw it...although i dont remember liking what i heard a WHOLE lot....

I got about $80 for a VG+ copy about 4-5 years ago.
i think this is the worst selling album of all time...I think in the offical Columbia books it is listed as selling like 117 copies or something, I think most of them were returned to distributors and destroyed...

80 to maybe at most 150. Great record though... AKO I think you would really like it (now).

Much more rare than the Remains, Gandalf or Skip Spence.
I find each of them about once a year.
The Spence, Gandalf and Remains all show up at least 25 times on Popsike.
Compared to the Brothers Unlimited(5)or Spirit & Worm(2) they really aren't that rare.
There are some real rare Canadian titles on Columbia like Jarvis St. Revue and It's All Meat.
La Clave doesn't turn up in the Bay... doesn't surprise me as it's on Verve. Just because a group is from there doesn't really mean it'll be around... Blair is from Buffalo but his record seems to only turn up in DC/Baltimore... as it was pressed down there I think.
I've seen La Clave a number of times out here, maybe it was more marketed towards the east coast latin market?
How rare was the De La Soul "Say No Go" test pressing? I enough people who actually own it (doubles even!) that it makes me think Tommy Boy pressed up 1000 "tests" of it or something.
Back to Latin rare: Joe Bataan's "Latin Soul Square Dance" 7" on Fania.

damn. the one i found was $20, but it was a while ago and that seemed like a lot back then. hahaha
Comments
stax was pretty big but id say motown DEFINITELY qualifies.

Jesus, ok ok.
How about Willie Bobo's "Always There" 12" on Columbia/CBS?
Or Mardi Gras without the bells? CTI?
dont know if this qualfifies...
recent listen ... EMI
CBS uber-raer
i like the flip better i think though..(I'm 28)
As WLP 12"s go, it's not the rarest... but better than La Frickin' Clave.
The Hollies "Draggin' My Heels" is Frickin' rare man.
Great tune.

Hey, I can't find that shit for $30 OR $60. Most of the recent copies on eBay have gone $80+.
If you have one for $60 - get at me.
La Clave is a record that - even within our own lifetimes on this website - has fluctuated a full 100% of its value (from, say 40 to 80).
I'd call the record overvalued. It's not that rare and it's not that good. I'd still tag it at $75 tho!
Let's get back to talking about rare records - not records you can't afford
Back to raer...rap-rare (on major label):
I think the only place I've ever seen this was on the TSL wall years ago...if even there.

If I own it, it can't be rare.
Ugh come ON soulstrut

uncommon, but probably not rare by any means.
that said, ive definitely never seen an OG in my life.
LOLOLOLOLOL!
hey tom...
so this does actually exist? how much does the og go for?
The Deep on Cameo/Parkway
Al "Tousan" Toussaint on RCA
Jamboree Soundtrack on Warner Bros.
James Brown "Try Me" OG on King
Doors "S/T" Uncensored Mono on Elektra
