Where/What is the Black Man's equivalent? Just sayin. And would it get played on the radio?
Comments
it would get radio play, for sure.
Sometimes the Stones are just...gross.
What's gross about it?
I just added the smirk since technically, I *am* Brown Sugar.
Watch these rap niggaz get all up in your guts
French-vanilla, butter-pecan, chocolate-deluxe
Even caramel sundaes is gettin touched
And scooped in my ice cream truck, Wu tears it up
(The ice cream man is coming!)[/b]
Also David Bowie - China Girl???
Just to clarify:
Black Women = NOT GROSS
White British heroin addicts singing with glee
about forced sex between Louisiana slave masters
and the Black Women they "own" = DEFINITELY GROSS
Thank you. The Stones also have songs with lines "Black Girls Like To Fuck All Night" and a song about shoving his dagger down a girls throat "And it hurts". Of course Neil Young sang about killing his girl down by the river, and Merl Haggard sang "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die". Yet hip hop gets the bad rap for inappropriate lyrics.
I think there is no Black equivalent to Brown Sugar and it would create an up roar and be banned if there were.
Perhaps the closest is Battle Hymn Of The Republic which compares terrorist John Brown to Jesus.
Edited to add: I'm not defending this particular song, but it's no worse than a lot of contemporary hip hop (that I'm not ashamed to admit that I like).
I think (Meth?) was speaking on the many shades of African American ladies in the world.
On a tangent, my friend's girlfriend from high school got an offer to be tag teamed by Meth and Red in their tour bus. She declined. He was always proud to tell that story. She looked like a white girl from that OC show with a fat ass and big titties.
Where's that video some dude posted with the hip hop song about dude needing a white girl? That shit was dumbstupidretahded.
Butter Pecan Rican!!!
Edit: Here it is---
I didn't know what the lyrics were about, but just the other day they were showing on tv The Stones live in Buenos Aires from last March, I think. At this part of the song Jagger was like "I said yeah, I said yeah, I said yeah..." and then the audience was like "woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo". Something like that 30 times in a row. 50000 people. It takes a whole new meaning now
what about jungle fever by stevie? Thats some black music about interracial handicapped dating, and that shit was all over the radio.
Please name song titles because I can't think of any recent rap songs that glorify anything as horrible as rape...
if you set your pipe to it I'm sure you could think of something
Good Call on Jungle Fever, but that's love on both sides.
On the opposite end is Ice Cube's Cave Bitch.
does murder count?
Right in your back yard.
But that/this is way off topic.
Yeah, I generally hold up Mind of a Lunatic as the
counter-argument to anyone that wants to argue about how
"rap is so much more offensive now than it used to be" ...
After I tell them "you sound white" I play the Geto Boys track...
prince paul "beautifull night for a date rape"
why? i think everyone understood what you were getting at, but your comment was way too glib and simplified- people then pointed out there were plenty of rap songs about selling horrible drugs, murder and rape.
done. what is there to go off about? and keep in mind i'm at work and don't have time to read some endless rants about how the Geto Boys rape songs are ok, but others aren't.
We had a whole class devoted to this topic in my "Black Women, Rape, and Other Treasons of the Body" seminar.
There's no shortage of these songs in heavy metal, either...But the question that was posed involved black music.
Last I heard, hip hop was still black.
