Also I take it from this list that we have proof once and for all that "foreigners" don't make funny films?

"Mon dieu! These people apparently know nothing about films"[/b]

"Forgive them, for they know not what they speak about"[/b]

People that admire Adam Sandler movies wouldn't know Jacques Tati if walked up and slapped them with a crepe...

    that's actually louis de funes...

    whatever, what exactly is BRAVO?
here in germany it is a very famous (yet shitty) teenie-mag.

i suppose it's not the same?!?

"so I got that going for me"

    "...which is nice."

This list looks like it was put together by the interns over there at Bravo. There needs to be more classic comedies like The Thin Man, Some Like it Hot, Duck Soup, etc.

    It's a shanda.

yeah. Having a top 100 list with NO Billy Wilder is shameful.

    what about "the Apartment"?

  • CosmoCosmo 9,768 Posts
One just can't take this seriously, you know.

I would also have put Uncle Buck and Defending Your Life on that list.

did i really see pootie tang listed in this thread? god that was so phucking boring after 3 minutes, same godamn catchphrases, not even chris rock could save it.

though i wouldnt add it to a list of top 100, the first Friday is classic to me. I dont know why i'm remembering/recalling this, but does anyone remember a movie called tales from the hood? i guess it was a parody of tales from the crypt keeper but i never saw it.

a movie that's not hilarious funny, but a comedy classic is "the party" by peter sellers, in brown skin portraying an east indian...so i could be biased. i remember when "house party" with kidn n play came out in grade 2 and i told my dad at school i saw "house party" and my dad goes "oh yeah, i saw that years ago...", and for 2 days i thought i had the coolest dad in the world, who was into kid n play and hip hop until i realized he was talking about "the party".

don't be a menace to south...man i saw that a few months ago, not nearly as funny as i thought it was back in the day, but the guy in the wheel chair is classic!

in terms of modern classics, i can't hate on "old school", ive watched that over many times, also never realized it was a parody on fight club.

and a movie that definitely NEEDS TO BE ON THE TOP 100 LIST IS "A Christmas Story". do not even front. a godamn kids xmas movie with dark humour or whatever u call it, coming out when it did. my first exposure to that type of humour id have to say..the movie was so ill...a kid that could actually act, done in narrative with clips of the kids imagination, like shooting robbers with bb guns, to the conclusion of spending xmas at an asian restaurant...just so well phucking done.

For all the shit i gave the recent crop of comedy movies earlier, "old school," is my favorite by far. the first 35 minutes had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. "Oh my god...its so good...when it first hits your lips...its so good." The end sucked, but i did enjoy the Fight Club references, especially the dinner scene.

don't know if i'd put that one on the Funniest 100 of All Time list, but that movie made me laugh really hard.

Someone needs to cosign bad santa, modern classic.

  • Cosign the disgust with that initial list...

I'm just wondering, did anybody enjoy the film Four Rooms??

Not that it should top the list or anything like that, but the 3rd part of the movie (the 3rd room) titled "The Misbehavers" directed by Robert Rodriguez is pure genius to me. The comedy and climax of that part of the movie is fuckin on point.

Tim Roth was holding it down in a serious way as the bellhop...

Also, I didn't catch any mention of this?...

Undeniably a classic, even for a youngin' like myself...

    51. National Lampoon's Vacation 43. What About Bob?

    50. The Princess Bride

    all should be much higher

WHERE THE FUCK IS "STIR CRAZY" ?????

I dont see Rush Hour ......

    at least give "Friday" #100

    Better Off Dead ....

    Planes ,Trains,Automobiles

I was commenting on the French-ness of the post. I wouldn't know Louis de Funes if he walked up and slapped me with a crepe...
