Yeah I'm a fool i throw the ban around like a smelly armpit, myself
Taking this chance to extend MTL hospitality to all-o-yalls
My lata's got love for the mtl, Danno and soulfirer are down with the Goods and a bunch a strutters seem to rep. If anyone ever comes down here holla at me glad to accomadate or recommend venues etc
Ayo, co-sign on this one... aside from a few standout tracks here and there, a lot of their music is boring to me. I can't say I hate on them, but they really don't do anything for me.
i will go local, i can't see the appeal in any of the big toronto/ canadian buzz bands = DFA79, Metric, Stars, Dears, New Pornographers, arcade fire and especially Broken Social Scence.
I feel you, the dears are ok
but i think its because its the only scene we have
you guys got loads of chin stroker techno and TIGA as well!!!
Dload 8 of most popular reggaeton tracks play it on loop for a day. You will feel my L.A radio satured hate
Remember that I'm blue song
Haha, I feel you. I don't listen to the radio anyway but my girlfriend actually has the reggaeton station programed on her car stereo. I give her a hard time for being a Black/Japanese girl who likes reggaeton. She comes from a drum & bass background so it makes me laugh. I tell her, "You been hanging out with your Chicana friends too much. Wannabe Latina. " It's cute.
C'mon, what about "in my lifetime"? For me it's the personality verses his skills. For some reason cat annoys me. He doesn't always pick the best beats either but he gets some heat from time to time. As much as dude gets on my nerves, there's no denying his lyrical skill.
On the other hand, Jim Jones seems like a stand up guy, but i'm not feelin' his flow. We'll see.

I recognize his skill, but for some reason I've never understood why his music is so revered.

I'll probably get stabbed for saying this..
where?
Dont forget these guys
Well, pardon me, sir.
Also, anything featuring Nate Dogg. That dude is WACK (unlike Jay-Z, who's mostly just boring)

Of course when I'm in the car I control the dial.
this is as good as the "hate on these classic records" thread.

yea...no.
i've tried, i really have. i even tried seeing them live - thought maybe that's where they would shine, but no go - just don't feel it.
Anything by Common or The Roots. I feel Roisto on the subject of Jay Z, too.
(except for the reggaeton part)
