the internet and you ...

When I get up in the morning it seems there is a certain dose of information I have to get, from reading message boards, web sites, news, searching ebay, downloading audio and video, etc. When I reached a certain level the need to get informations seems to reduce drastically and I can start working and study continously. But before that there are 20 minutes where I don't access the internet for said things. I somehow get the impression I'm kind of addicted to information.Discuss.

But add porn to the information.

Sometimes simultaneously, which can result in some strange conditioning... i.e., getting turned on while reading about bad republicans, or while checking for records on the Bay.

I'm in Japan where internet/manga cafes are all over. After a recent move, and being without internet in my home... I started going. It was like an information fix, 5 bucks for a info-high that lasts a half-hour.

    Peace...

did I just hear you say you masturbate at Internet cafe's?

  • Perhaps this is also a good way to meet your future significant other?

I suggest sending Stein down there to report!

2c: I'm highly addicted. The Problem seems to be: I'm interested in a brazillion ( ) things. Which can lead to endless research of VHSs, LPs, Vintage Studio gear, DIY gear, CGI, Sijun.com.... oh please dont get me started again.

Somehow I don't give a rats ass about who is dissing who, who's owns the publishing for the lox.... dang, that shit comes here by its self somehow...

Question back: Am I the only one who's so addicted that I really enjoy seeing Nature, going outside for a walk (nohomo), sitting in the bus for a longass ride talking to some girl I don't know about the bag of records I just copped?

Naw, while you get your own booth, there are windows in the door... I'm sure many people do though. I mean, this is Japan. Besides, the booths have dvd players too, and they got tons of porn you can rent, on top of the pornographic magazines and comics available for your perusal.

For me, it was strictly news, forums, and email. Too many fine girls hanging out to risk the embarassment.

    Peace...

Some of them even have showers! I've never suspected anyone of stroking at the ones I've been too, but I rarely go.
Although some homeless guy kept staring at me while taking a leak at a public bathroom in Shibuya.
Only later did I realize he was engaging in onanism (that's right, self-abuse)!

Oh yeah, I am addicted to data too. First 40 mins of my office day are banana, yogurt, coffee, and web-based goofery.

You know it seems like I do these sorts of things less and less. I miss the days of popping a tape into my walkman, lighting a joint, and going for a walk in the park.

I think I have a pretty serious internet addiction though. Not that I waste an insane amount of time on it, but that I REALLY hate it when I don't have access to it. It has definitely surpassed all other mediums and become the primary source of information I aquire on a daily basis.

    The same with me.
Add to that: video games, vintage video games, vintage pc games, searching for stupid pics with google image search, music technology related sites and forums, graphic design and typography things, video releated sites, computer technology and security sites, ...

I'm afraid that can take 1-2 hours when coming to work, sometimes, when I can't find the right moment to stop, I won't do any real work at all.

I feel you. I really think twice before going to somebody who has no internet, because I need to check all my important sites for news updates and shit like that, because I'm gonna be "disconnected" to the time then.

I still do those things on the regular gotta keep it balanced.
Its just with this information running out(mp3s also) combined with the entertainement/interest factor youre drawn to the net. After downloading tracks, picking pics for mixtape covers returning emails you see that 2 hours went by...
But i mean my music addiction is the same (im sure you all share it) i spend at least 1:30 straight up listenning, playlists mixes etc daily. sometimes i wish i was breakdancing more. All of this stuff happens in my appt at 11pm post spliff. so it also goes with our lifestyle. after a hard day's work the internet is like the tv couch.
with winter coming up its about to happen more...im scurred

I'm the same way, online at work throughout the day and a couple hours when I get home. I would say that I am addicted except for the fact that when I'm away from it, on a trip or something, I really don't miss it. I just went to FLA for 5 days and only went to an internet cafe once for 15min and felt like that was enough.

I guess it's just really distracting when there's nothing else going on, but if I'm on a trip I have enough going on to hold my interest.

Before I started an office job I was pretty clueless about the internet. But in the past year I'm pretty sure I finished the damn thing. I'm not sure all the extra information has done my brain any good. And after looking at a computer all day my eyes hurt.
