I'm no audiophile but I don't think it matters too much. Besides isn't that an adjustable setting anyway on most turntables? Also I thought that each stylus has it's own suggested tracking specs so then it would depend on the stylus etc.. -

i have never liked the shure's either, but only used them cause of the high output. the qberts are selling for $99 per cartridge (om) and include an extra stylus. not bad. -

Is it a humming noise or static? Humming is a ground fault. Static could be, er, static. Try cleaning your stylus , records, or spraying your TT mat with static guard.
