Visited Costa Rica a few years ago. My recollection of San Jose was that it was not the best place to be (crime etc..). I'm sure it's just like anywhere else, good parts and bad parts. Be prepared for lots and lots of rain.

i would get a g5 tower for stuff that intense. 70gb of space for 3 or 4 programs is ridiculous. There are some things that are better suited for desktop comps. You will find much better performance from 7200 + rpm hard drives.
