If you're genuinely interested about seeing him at what people who like him consider his best go check out 6 Kiss. You may still hate it but at least it sets a grounding for how people could end up listening to something like Rain In England.
B/w I think the number of modern day rap fans who like Lil B is hardly overwhelming, he's not really an indication of what is going on outside a very small sub group. I do compilations for a friend every six months or so of 25-30 recent rap tracks that I think showcase what is good out and about at the moment. Again, if you're interested, I can send you it, he's a certified hater but usually comes away with at least a couple of songs he thinks are decent.
Yep be my pleasure, normally I just stick it on his server which he [strike]foolishly[/strike] kindly gave me details for but if you're interested I can stick the latest one I did on to mediafire or something as well. Tend to stay away from the too Brick Squad/Bay area sounding stuff as he seems to recoil at the sound of it so they're normally a slightly compromised mix of decent modern sounds and slight throwback. Can stick it up this week sometime and possibly the previous one depending on how accepting my shitty broadband connection is feeling.
Funnily enough was listening to that Frankenstein mixtape this morning along with the ASAP Rocky EP. Really loving the whole DIY aesthetic of these releases - it's basically getting towards the point now where I think I could almost get all rap music I was interested in from the free mixtapes/eps put up by artists. Which is nice.

Just listened to some youtubes of 6 Kiss tracks, and they're much better! Rain In England doe... I'm resigned to liking a particular era of teh raps, but some things are so weird that rather than merely reaffirming my own prejudices, they leave me wondering whut happened?
The Squadda B production goes in for a lot of shimmery sounds, tinkly pianos, and strings, which takes some getting used to, but I'm sure if I combed through Lil B's catalogue I'd find something that would sit perfectly amid the downtempo/experimental/stoner-beats sound spectrum that I'm comfortable with.
That track sampling Africa by Toto is awesome in a strange way.
A lot of it does remind me of that Carrot Cake & Titties track doe.
Lil B is a lot more lyrical than Lemonade dude.

Yeah not surprised that Rain In England is one that's picked up on and I can't really defend it as something anyone would want to purchase but it's definitely not an indication of his general output - more like one extreme end of it just as something like Wonton Soup is at the other end.
The guy seems to have an idea, record it and release it all in the space of 24 hours so there is definitely a bit of wading through the inevitable lows to get to the highs (hence the extraordinary number of listens on LastFM i seem to have racked up over the last twelve months) and not everything comes off as intended.
I do genuinely rate a decent amount of what he's released (he really can rap despite what otehrs may think and the sloppiness on display is often more to do with the quick idea to realisation time rather than lack of ability) even if his last couple of mixtapes have felt a bit more phoned in than the stuff he was producing last year. He's kind of like one of those artists you normally read about in Pitchfork where, a few years after they die, someone unearths a massive library of music they recorded in their bedrooms all their lives and are instantly declared an outsider hero. Except that he's alive and people are listening to it as he churns it out.
Production does vary but I'm kind of into the Squadda B stuff now not to mention all the lovely Clams Casino beats he uses. Really don't expect everyone to like it as it is a polarising sound and it's not something I tend to play to friends on a regular basis but he's a lot more interesting to me than most artists out there.
On a side note, one of the first tracks I ever heard by him was him freestyling over My Heart Will Go On. Took me a good two months after that to explore further and would never have thought I'd be writing rambling mini essays about him on here a year or two later.
I do wonder if Lil B is just having one long, very public, breakdown though at times. I hope not.
One of the bonuses of him being so left field is the gulf that opens up between him and more traditional styles. And in that gap, is a great space for creativity to flourish. and Soldier Boy.
Yeah I've always hoped that spilling out every single thought or idea onto digital media for distribution is a cathartic process for him though it could of course just be a detailed log of his slow but sure detachment from reality. I guess either way we win though the former option makes it a more pleasurable listen.
It is a strange bizarro world we live in when one of the most commercially successful young rappers around seems more interested in picking up the latest moves of a guy who makes songs about being Ellen DeGeneres than churning out another of his sure fire chart friendly pop raps. Can't be a bad thing to my mind even if the results haven't exactly been rewarding to this point.

Think I know exactly what you're talking about with the sound, it's that kind of breezy, laid back, vocals and guitar over a faster than expected percussion. Or something.
Nah he's American, been around a fair bit and I would imagine that it'd be pretty easy to cop the album though never heard the rest of it. Only know it from one of the many jazz funk style Blue Note compilations I picked up back in the mid nineties while looking for teh braeks.
I love that track but he's done nowt else in this vein. He's a guitarist by trade and if you were a regular night-own back in the early 90s he used to present some US "Jazz Club" style show that was on about 4AM that would have many then-contemporary widdlesome waistcoat wearers. I had a bunch of them on VHS tapes but they got skanked in Manchester long time ago, and tbh, I am still not convinced I need a six-string bass.
Bonus beet: His name is an inversion of the Bill Evans masterpiece "Nardis". Gohfigga.
The only thing I can say about any damage to the model is a small scratch on the saucer module that was caused by a deep space conflict with a Romulan vessel made from a post-it note. Be assured the Romulan vessel came off much worse.

I just can't justify that kind of outlay for a ship that's seen serious action... I'll bet my left nut that the warp reactor is shot and it just pootles along on impulse power.
