If we're talking burgers in general, nothing (from my experience) is fucking with Kuma's.

    At all.

this is a really awesome read, and in related news, i am hungry as shit now.

Seriously. I debated making burgers for dinner for a half hour after reading that.

Yeah great read. The site is not to be messed with when you're hungry.

I'd love a thread one day on great Italian sandwich spots.

i used to like going to this place called boylan heights (named after the area in NC....i dunno why) burger of the month is normally pretty good, they source all their ingredients locally, so that helps alot.

    http://boylan-heights.com/

but then the lacrosse players started hanging out there. lacrosse players are bad enough, but their parents are the worst. then that huguely kid killed that lil blonde girl. so i dont go there anymore really.

Never understood the hoopla over in and out....just a fast food burger, a decent one but nothing to fiend over.
I do dig the whole code work at the spot though..."animal style, etc"..that's cool.

  • I enjoy the burgers and I think it's got sort of a different, fun/creepy 50s burger stand thing going on, but In N Out's fries do not appeal to me at all. They may be fresh, but they taste like cardboard. My wife likes them, but they do not taste anything like a french fry to me.

I find the mormon messages hidden under the cups to be a littler weird, but it seems like they run a pretty decent business. It's always packed with very young kids who seem to be happy to work there. There seems to be like 50 kids working behind the counter.

I'm driving home from Reno last night. Stop off at an In N Out Burger in Vacaville. There's a family of 4 in front of me.

    Are you from Vacaville?

Apple Pan has good tuna melts tho.

Astro kills it with the variety of tasty fast food veggie options. that place and poquito mas are 2 LA places (of several) i really miss and crave when im back east. + Carney's for basic ass veg cheeseburger and wicked fries too!

Not any more, although I crave often.

I haven't eaten meat for 25 years, and I'm craving right now.

"If this rap shit don't work out I'll just keep cooking burgers" just doesn't sound as good, I presume.

BTW, I might just have to study that how-to-cook-a-real-burger site. Us euromen have to make our own, no burger spots over here that have it like that.

I guess that depends where you live. Quite a few of my boys have been raving about this, which is rapidly acquiring mythical status amongst meat-eaters south of the river. One of my boys said to me, "It's an interesting approach they have. There's no attempt to be "gourmet": they don't use mega expensive cuts of meat, posh cheese (in fact they use Kraft slices!), Hestonesque cooking processes or anything - the fanciest thing about it is the sourdough buns - but they've studied the cooking process of the best down-home burger joints across America and honed their seasoning and cooking to make an absolutely classic burger."

He added, "It was concealed behind a container truck on an industrial estate. Eventually we had to call the number on the website to be told "you need to look harder - it's more worthwhile if you have to look". It was like tracking down a MEAT RAVE."

when did this place become lacrosse frat central, NAGL, will it suffer or thrive with the post snuff publicity ?

guess it's down the street for a gus burger

UPDATE: I'm totally making burgers tonight for dinner. Thinking of going mushrooms, onions, gorgonzola. WHO GOES HARD WITH THEIR BURGER TECHNIQUES? Drizzle some knowledge on this bitch.

Tip: I mix my 80% lean ground beef with Worcestershire sauce and Canadian steak seasoning. That's what's up.

if you are ever in Memphis...these (there are many in town) have the best burgers. The BBQ is merely adequate, but the cheeseburgers are fire...I guess the pork grease and smoke gets into them or soemthing, so so good.

I dont see how this would translate into tasting like a hamburger...just sayin'...I would call this a "foodie groundbeef panini"

    YES

I've never been to a meat rave. After the many raves-raves I've attended, I have not immediately had a taste for meat. If you know what I'm saying.

I am in Chicago and have yet to visit Kuma's. I know: For shame. My girl has been there several times and always comes home with a guilty look on her face. One time she visited with a group of people, including her rotund friend, a first-timer, who shamed the whole posse when she inquired about chasing the burger with some "ice cream." It was like, these burgers are dessert.

On White Castles: For the longest time, I thought the term "slider" was truly a nod to them sliding "out" not sliding "down." I was like, Why would they advertise something so nasty? Turns out, it's pretty common thing to call tiny burgers. And, yeah, after five-plus beers, I will freak out on some jalapeno-cheese White Castles. It's cheap and always open.

Billy Goat Tavern, known worldwide, actually has some pretty terrible burgers. Just way too much bread and very little patty.

Fatburger: Pretty sure Kanye West franchised the first one in the Chicago area. Imagine it would fit right in to his own rap repertoire -- always loved his line: "Said she wanted diamonds, I took her to Ruby Tuesdays."

This sounds like a delicious sandwich without the burger.

Also, I don't know what zataar is.
