Adapted is an extremely underrated songwriter, right up there with Traditional.

I think the version Womack cut with the Valentinos on Clean slays both New Birth's and his own.

I think the version Womack cut with the Valentinos on Clean slays both New Birth's and his own.

to me, the Valentinos sounded like they merely dubbed their voices over the backing track to Bobby's original...not a lot of difference, IIRC

Who's done the best version of "To Know You Is To Love You"?

I heard a great version on a mix by Mr Scruff - sounded like it could've been an edit as it went on for quite a while, long instrumental part after the vocals with a bit of swirling and dubby echos and stuff - not the Bloodfire edit that I have either.

    Marvin Gaye's Grapevine > Gladys Knight's.

listened to both a few nights ago. turned off Gladys about a minute in and chilled out to Marvin instead.

its just so solid. yeah, he drums in the gladys knight version are killer, but marvin just SLAYS this shit.

    Ooooh, dunno about that one.
In a live setting I'd go with the band everytime, but as a recording not so sure.

I never heard that version, but her version of "The First Cut Is The Deepest" is better than the original Cat Stevens version, in my opinion.
