Is european rap automatically excluded from classic status or how does it work?

Nah, I'm just f*cking with you. I'm not really feeling Eurorap, though.

You sure? Eurorap is as diverse as US Rap is. There's a lot to be missed as there's a serious amount of crap like everywhere.

    Tender inferiority complexes revealed...

Heh. It's a valid point, though. I understand most Americans' aversion to European hip-hop, even if I think that sometimes it's partly down to laziness. But for every European country, there's a grip of different styles. Not saying all of it is good, not at all, but it's certainly diverse.

With the exception of French hip hop from the late 90's like : Iam, Fonky Family (FF), NTM, etc...

  • Hey, I'm not saying there aren't some good American soccer players either.

But it's something that kids go to camp for, whose practice mothers drive minivans to, that rarely produces anything resembling a competitive team but people seem to enjoy doing nonetheless.

Agreed. I've bought some eurorap over the years, usually cause I really like a beat. In general tho I feel like Americans, myself included, have trouble taking accented rapping seriously, although romance languages seem to go down a bit easier for discerning listeners. Not sure I'd chalk it up to laziness or just taste. Anyway, I just thought it was a funny response to DBs exceeding diplomatic answer, carry on..

I saw him live and he was possibly one of the worst acts Ive ever seen. I was so glad I was on the guest list so I could leave without feelin' I'd wasted my money.

    i like this analogy

    threadjack/

and it's especially befitting given that one of America's best soccer/football players also made a (rather crappy) rap a few years back with Big Hawk (rip)

It's not just exclusive to Americans alone
I dont like hearing it either.
Even though i dont mind hearing American rappers massacre Jamaican Patois though.

Just to clarify i'm talking specifically about Non-American accents in rap.
The Southern accent is refreshing to me right now even though i know East Coast/NYC
purists have a problem with it.
But let's not sidetrack add some more backpack classiques ppl.

  • However, they made one of the best rap 12"s ever!

There's gotta be some list for ego trip of 10 best indie rap records that made NO money. I say indie because I'm sure a ton of the great major label 12"s lost money.
