b, 21I also want to know if Native Americans don't like the symbols of traditional costume. Not the charactures they use in team mascots because those are pretty bad. But is dressing up in a paper head dress, etc. considered offensive in itself, or is it when children who aren't indians and have no idea what or why dress up that way? If the Thanksgiving really happened, istn that a good place to start teaching about Native American and European History because its actually a positive thing?

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21I won't claim any authority on the issue, but I do work as an archivist in a Native American research institution and, from my experience, the word costume is often considered offensive in this context. Regalia is preferred.
