And I can't belive ako was already posting back then. Dude must have been like 11 years old!
14 actually! haha
man, its crazy how long i've been looking at this site. seems like i remember somebody talking about how they left the records they just got in their car, which was now buried under the rubble of the 9-11 attacks. maybe that was crates list though.....
doesn't it kinda feel like we all grew up together? i mean...looking at some of these posts from back then it feels like we've all really... "matured" as strutters....for example, imagine how a thread like this would go down now:

Seriously. This place has changed throughout the years. For better or for worse doesn't matter, but it's still keeps me coming back day after day. Change is good.
We all gotta start somewhere Those were the days though. The internet spreads information at an unreal pace. And here we are...
It really is mindblowing...I know that personally I learned and built from all the knowledge that's accumulated here and other places over the past five years, and if I'd started back then like Ako I'd have been in the same spot as you all were. I guess I never really realized just how quickly the record game changes until I started reading this stuff, hearing about Brainfreeze-era, the start of eBay, the 90s, etc.
It really all makes me wonder what the future holds with all this. I'm tempted to start a thread but I think in 2007 that's a real headz conversation.
Sorry for the multiple posts but I'm dying of laughter, classic AP in effect:
The fat guy in the flannel freaked out becuase he caught onto all this shit like way too late. He was into price guides and bullshit Living Stereo and Elvis garbage and you were into David Axelrod and he found out and now he is all upset at you. You are emblematic of his severe lack of knowledge, his failure as a businessman and his unhip reality. You just rubbed it in his face by buying a copy of Larry Willis Inner Crisis from him. Now he is having an Inner Crisis of his own. " Sir-Funk-A-Lot " just ruined someone's day.
My advise to you... Do not go to record strores you do not like. Instead go into thrift stores and buy Private Issue New Age. It is much more fun and only costs a dollar. If you do not like it you can send it to me and I will give you $5 to $15 a record and sometimes more. Then I will trade you Cymande and shit and we can all get our jollies. For the record I am not talking about Windham Hill or anything that resembles it.
This is a cool discussion.
Have a pleasureable evening and a productive yet mellow week.

i thought this was gonna be my Eamon "Fuck it (I dont want you back)" appreciation thread.
The funniest thing is that his French to English translations are completely counterintuitive if you speak French.
Sadly, no. I set the account up in 2003 as a joke. That picture still cracks me up though.

Just wait till Day posts about the Paul Humphrey
Man, back then there weren't fools posting who own record stores. Or big time dealers.
No one seemed to be into Psych or weird private records (i.e. no Waxidermists)
Fools were buggin about Sexy Coffee Pot.

Great posts by all the major players. A real on-topic discussion sans bitch-fest.
