A couple more that I haven't seen mentioned:

    Bill Evans, Explorations
Grant Green, Live at the Lighthouse
Miles Davis, In a Silent Way
    Thelonios Monk, Monk's Dream
    Art Blakey, Moanin'

All these records really stay with me.

I've seen this many times and passed it up having bad weather report flashbacks, whats the sound on this one like?

does anyone else even care about Thad Jones early Blue notes? I was totally floored by this LP when I bought it but I never hear anyone else mention him outside of a GOMLW break discussion

Lovely! Doesn't sound anything like Weather Report. More like a moodyer version of Sidewinder if that makes sense...

Lol, I just put this on and the first thing that popped into my head was, that I forgot how much it sounded like sidewinder.

I'm a big fan of all of his solo Blue Note's. Some great, great stuff.

Damn near his entire catalog up until like '73 is essential, in my opinion. Him and Mingus are my favorite artists of all time.

I ain't mad at that. I like how you didn't say "jazz" artists. I feel the same way. Although I would have to say Horace Silver gets included in this group as well.
