I've been playing that Cosmic Force "Trinidad Bump/Chocolate Starfish" joint out a lot. Always gets a good response on the dancefloor and it always blends nicely with OG disco tunes or really just anything in that tempo range. I want more of that stuff, but I'm not up on all the crazy 12" that I probably need out there. I've been hearing some interesting new disco stuff from Norway. It doesn't have to be straight retro sounding, as long as it thumps and it's not too techno-ish. Something that fits in the mix with older as well as newer tracks.

Kathy Diamond - two 12inches, both produced by Maurcie Fulton, heat, she gonna drop LP soon
also In Flagranti LP although they go aometimes into disco-punk direction so i dont know if this is what you are after
on norwegian tip i particualrly enjoy Lindstrom and Todd Terje productions
and btw: that Cosmic Force isnt Dimitri From Paris alias and both tracks arent edits of old obscure tunes ?

Kathy Diamond's album is pretty good, if a bit coffeetable in parts

lots of environ shit going on this year too. new single by baby oliver just out is sickly. im inclined to think its another geist alias ala new jersey devil social club
Eh, I've heard some decent stuff way back. Does he have any new projects worth checking?
Someone just said he has a full length EP coming out.
As far as Danny goes, he is OG. He was making new disco when no one else was doing it, or even listening for it. Never one to follow trends...
So what's up with Metro Area, anyone got an inside scoop on when the new shit is dropping? Also plaese to ID this track, heard it a million times but the name escapes me...
environ newsletter said something about a geist solo album dropping around summer, I think. A few tracks with the dude from junior boys on that..metro area full length was sometime after that, also a new kelley polar lp.
darshan from MA also co-produced that tracey thorne single w/ ewan pearson recently.
This guy is class. I still have he's first couple EP's which are smooth as fuck.
thanks for the snippet...but i need the full jam. i missed out on these.
Zongamin
Brundtland & Pehrson
Motivii: Teutamaton

Dirty Hans, he knows what??s up...

Neighbours new stuff on Homebreakin will do nice, http://www.myspace.com/homebreakinrecords
B-Team It's Your Girl Night / Brass Boot / Metered Mobile Trax
We did a remix using just the end of Ladies night, and flipped it nice..
and
Lindstrom seems to consistently be on point too.
) Philosophy of BALIHU: disco, sampling, rhythm and future plans. When do you work on a new track what kind of approach do you prefer? Immediate and instinctive or technical and rational?
ACTUALLY let me be very specific. I basically hate sampling old disco records. If someone has not enough originality to make a bassline or melody, they shouldn???t make music. But lately, I sampled a rhythm pattern from a record - just because I haven???t done it for a long time, and I don???t want to be too dogmatic!!
thoughts on this comment... dogmatic or contrary ?
i think sampling old music has to do with alot more then just originality...cmon.
:5pager:
So can anyone ID that track for me?!?!
Oh Chicken Lips have been killing shit as of late on the remix tip, believe it. Emperor Machine is also crazy on the boards.
