I know there's a lot of 'em, but I found Hi-C's Skanless CD at the swap meet yesterday ($2!) and was reminded of this one:Hi-C - Yo Dick My other favorites include the Ghostface one, Lyte's "Paper Thin" and the Little Brother(?) song with a nice little chop. All-time favorite would have to be the Beatnuts' use of Monty Alexander's cover.Plaese to surprise me with some little-known, long-forgotten and/or "random rap" joints.Herm

  • Talib Kweli "Good To You" (not )
    CNN "Married To Marijuana"
Eric B & Rakim "Mahogany" (of course)
that recent CL Smooth song (so slept on since it in no way fits in with what's hannenin' now in rap music)

  • Oooh, can someone post Big Mike's "Playa Playa?"

    I LOOOOVE THAT SHIT!!!

    I like East Flatbush Project-Tried By 12"
MC Lyte & Eric B and Rakim are classics.
Busta killed it on his 2nd album (Forget the name of the song though).

  • Sorry, no mp3... Had to use a WMA.
Got to be my fave Massive tune.

    MassiveAttack-FiveManArmy

  • Exile "Algae". Dude simply murders "Love & Happiness". It even turns to this double time track that Jurrasic 5 rhymed over on the new album (it's cool, but kind of on the side of things)

  • Eric B & Rakim "Mahogany" (of course)

"Call me" for some other Rakim track

"Gotta find a new World" for Ironman

"Love and Happiness" for Turn it up

"You ought to be with me" for 260

and I really like the chop Nicolay did to Let's stay Together for "Light it up"

    Ghostface one

You mean 260? One is someone else I think.

I'd also add Iron Maiden from the wally champ....

Bonus track on Jay's orig Blueprint album was dope too...

Edit: Bruce beat to a few of those by a couple minutes, can't believe I forgot "been a long time",

  • Exile "Algae". Dude simply murders "Love & Happiness".

  • Al Tariq "think not"
    Redman "on fire"
    Big Mike "playa playa"
2nd to None "more like a pimp"
That G Dep song "take this money??" Puffy was on it.
    Big "What's Beef"

    There's hella I'm forgetting.

  • yeah I instantly thought of that Exile when I saw the thread title. P*t used that in a four turntable set we were doin and ever since I've been tryna score that record. Cmon J*sh, I don't even think Moist has his wmd's focused yet.

    Hey,

    My favorite is:

"Anyway the Wind Blows"-The UMC's (used "Here I Am" by Al Green).

Some nice work by my man RNS. Shiiieeet, I liked my own work with "Tomorrow's Dream" back in the day (nice and dirty off the 45rpm).

    Peace,

Whew, that's back in the "Maxell 90 min tape" era. I'd be luck to fish that tape out from the "bottomless box of tapes" in the closet. It would probably take weeks to find. Back then, I'd make a whole tape of beats in one night, and bring it around to my MC heads. We'd then roll the l's, crack the 40oz, form the cipher, and pass the mic. I miss those days.

    Peace,

Perfection. The first time I heard it was a true moment.

  • Al Green "Jesus is Waiting" used on Jay-Z "This Life Forever" (Black Gangsta OST). One fo the best post-"Reasonable Doubt" songs by Mr Carter IMO.
