not saying they're the best - these days i'd have to include people like excess, toadstyle, mike boo, ricci rucker, woody etc. but without those 5, i wouldn't make the shit i do make
tune wise, DJ EQ used to lay it down HARD. props to bomb hip-hop - the return of the dj comps were ill on that front. it was the first place i'd really heard DJ tracks outside of on albums with emcees on em, so to get a whole lp? dayum. i hadn't heard of z-trip or radar before then and i'd never heard proper tracks by spinbad and js-one.
I gotta give it up for my man Dj Bonez. He's an aussie dj who regularly does stuff I've never seen before. Crazy business, although he's not a huge "name".
lets not forget we all were jockin jazzy jeff in 86. not to mention cash moneys incredible cuts in 87 on ugly people be quiet. "turntables t t ta turntables, then the uhhh and the richard pryor cut. 20 YEARS AGO people !!!!
i truly believe some of the best well rounded djs ever came from philly.

NO DOUBT! Plaese to see the top 3 on my old school list.
I could list dudes forever, here are mine though (dudes that I feel like greatly inspired/influenced me):
1). DJ Day 2). DJ Quest 3). Revoloution 4). Melo-D 5). Babu 6). Teeko 7). B-Cause 8). Jazzy Jeff 9). DJ Scratch 10). CL Smooth (DID HE DO THE CUTS ON THE CREATOR????) 11). Rip-One
i should've mentioned melo-d and babu, they were a major influence. props to dj day - i heard a track he did with exile (who i'm liking more the more i hear) which is damn nice. props to oakland faders - i'm feelin them lately. 89 skratch gangstaz - pone & snayk eyz. ill. i always loved mr things cuts too. astro is ill. shouts to dee swift from back then... sheffield representahhhhh. would've been sick if he wasn't such a hermit
I can cosign all the DJs dropped before, so I have not to repeat them. The DJ's from the 80s are especialy dope because they scratched in a "musical" way while most of the DJs today scratch in a "technical" way.
But I have to mention 2 forgotten heros too.
DJ Icy C of the Miami Boyz is extremly dope.
Mixmaster Ice of UTFO is also a scracth god, his cuts on "Wanna Rock" are not brilliant and the scratches on that whole LP are
Ya i give it up to the oldschool scratch dj's now that i think about it. those mixers were not that great compared to what they have at their disposal nowa-days
1. DJ Cash Money - man the mighty hard rocker and all his shit THE best 2. Young Einstein 3. Mix Master Mike 4. Scott La Rock 5. Dj Yoda - UK Cut and Paste dude who makes the funniest mixtapes in history and can really scratch!

showing my new-jack-ness, i gotta say that revolution's cuts on some of the "this or that" interludes blew my mind.
