Pharrell = C-
Jurassic 5 = B-
Still need to sit with: Dilla (but not really blown so far), Dogg Pound
In terms of singles though: Fam-Lay's "Skrunt Owt" is ridiculously sick.
The DPG album is "quite nice"
Also: can you expound?
Haven't taken a close look at the credits, but off top: battlecat, l.t. moe, supafly, swizz beats, d. banner... no daz beats, though.
Well, it's not like anybody in their right mind thought that this album would actually be good, but I am still interested in hearing about how, exactly, it is bad, having not yet heard it myself.
It's just super duper baby bottom soft. Also the Neptunes have some incredibly great tracks in the rotation right now:
Mr. Me Too
I Gotcha
Skrunt Owt
probably one or two others I'm forgetting.
BUT - Pharrell seemed to have kept nothing for himself that's really notable. There's MAYBE two tracks on here that caught my ear from jump but the rest sound like bad parodies of "a Neptunes beat".
And mind you, I'm not inclined to dismiss P out of hand. I was genuinely looking forward to hearing this.
i don't get the appeal of "me too", what is it about this track that people like, aside from just being fans of the clipse?
Rather telling how this is like the only post in sight that can't muster up a "top 5".
Seriously. This has to be one of the slowest summers in memory.

Yo Gotti - Back 2 Da Basics
Dogg Pound - Cali Iz Active
Ray Cash - C.O.D.

Although Noz wasn't feeling it. So if you trust his ass...enjoy that new Coup album.
There is no possible way that this can be good.
Deej - 1 to 10........whats ur rating.
I am completely unconvinced by her as a rapper.
She just sounds uncomfortable.
You mad?
I don't know how thats possible.
And no.
And 8.5/10
Do you have a lil somethin' somethin' bout as big as her leg?
Maybe it's you who's uncomfortable.
8.5 is almost classic. So in 10 years people will start putting this album on underatted lists?
How on earth am I supposed to know?
Why on earth does it matter? Its only that good if people think that in ten years? I'm not gambling about how the canon will turn out, i'm telling you what albums i think are dope.
Dont get sensitive. I'm just trying to figure out your mind garden rating system. If your saying this album is 8.5 dopeness, then I would think this is a highlight lp of this summer/must have. From Becky to Bashir.
GTFOOHWTBS!!!
i dont think there has been a rap album this year that merits an 8.5.
not a bad record from the roots, but a fair amount of "aight" material. and is it me or is black thought getting real boring to listen to?
pharell - in my mind 3/5[/b]
first and foremost (and as expected), the production is really what makes this one. all in all, this record seems like his attempt at a kanye-esque solo artist/producer lp. there are some real nice beats on there as well as some ehhhhh ones. production wise, this is a 4/5. pharrell lyrically ranges from embarassing to listen to, to just good enough to have me not skip the track. requires an instrumental version ASAP.
