My favorite Film Noir. Think I saw this first at a Noir Festival at Cal maybe 10+ years. Liked it so much that my friends and I use to watch it over and over. Use to memorize whole dialogue parts.

haha mindless humor is so necessary sometimes!! for some reason grandma's boy never played out here (hawaii) when it first came out, and it's not even at the local blockbuster.

    heavily endorsed!

Fantastic. I've been looking for a DVD of this since I bought my first player back in '99.
Did they finally put this baby out?

It's been out for years - but I hope there's a newer version, because my
old snap case copy is one of the shittiest transfer jobs I ever owned.
It's certainly a film deserving of the deluxe treatment.

Now I suppose I get the big speech...the one with all the two dollar words in it.
    Let's have it, Keyes.

    Walter, you're all washed up.

Thanks, Keyes. It was short anyway.

Yeah, I have seen this out before actually, but it was always some cheap-o, public domain-looking release.
Those often tend to be cheap rips right from a tv broadcast, so I refrained and stuck with my VHS pre-record.
This cover looks slightly different than what I've seen out there before.
Also on amazon, I see what looks to be a discontinued Univeral disc but reviews for that version complain of a horrible transfer (the one you have?)
    So what then?
Which release should I hold out for??

Yeah, mine isn't a rip-off boot or PD copy, but the
legit Universal release...it looks like a Windows Media File.

I know Universal re-launched their noir series on DVD,
all the titles that were on VHS like Phantom Lady, etc -
I assume Indemnity is part of the series, but I don't know
if it's a new transfer or just a new package.

    --------------------------

On a slightly related note, here's a FANTASTIC film noir
    in a quality print/transfer for under $10:

    THE BIG COMBO

from the director of Gun Crazy and with cinematography by
one of the true masters/creators of the film noir style, John Alton.

Ha ha exactly my take on it. I also enjoyed the running theme of having cum on his mates mum. Far more enjoyable than I suspected.

Having had an intensive two weeks of catching up on arthouse releases, finally managed to get my hands on a copy of From Beyond yesterday. Big fan of Stuart Gordon so was stoked to see it but this went into overdrive when I discovered Ken Foree was in it as well.

Not at all what I expected but that is one truly fucked up horror movie. Loved it.

That was great. Dare I say, better than the original version...

'Hostel' was fairly gruesome, but 'Hard Candy' was very uncomfortable viewing.

Roll on 'The Great Ecstasy Of Robert Carmichael'...

Didn't really impress me as I'd hoped. Don't think it helped that it was sold over here like some kind of Audition style film (which is blatantly isn't) but was also irritated by the removal of all the grey areas set out early in the film, lost my interest a bit after the initital hunted/hunter portion.

The part with the neighbour did make me chuckle though.

That doesn't surprise me in the least.
The OG Hills Have Eyes always seemed overrated to me anyway.

I just watched the TV version of The Shining and it was gawdawful.

Watched a movie called YiYi and enjoyed it. It didn't change my life, but I enjoyed it.

Tried watching Shaolin Vs. Evil Dead because Gordon Liu was in it, but I couldn't finish it.

Just watched Platoon for the first time in yeeeeeeaaaars. I forgot how badass that movie is.

The last movie I saw in theatres was X-men 3, and I enjoyed it but it wasn't great. Before that I don't even remember the last movie I saw in a theatre.

I'll probably watch superman this weekend even though the new guy looks a little, uh, well, GAY. And I hate him because he has the same last name as me (routh), but I pronounce mine 'ruth' and he says 'routh', which means people will now fuck up my last name for the rest of my life. So yeah, fuck superman, even though I will go see it.

Some movies are so bad that even the previews make me want to vomit. Like Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift. I was squirming in my seat waiting for the preview to end. I finally jumped up and yelled "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and got escorted out. They let me back in once I explained that I was watching the tokyo drift preview.

In fact, just thinking about it pisses me off. goddamit.
