Ya actually REALLY own all of these recs on OG issue? Wow...YDM!!

    M Rez

  • Played this one at a house party last Saturday and it blew the roof off the joint:

"Music" - "Montreal Sound" (Smash Disco)

Other big tunes this weekend were

"Law and Order" - Love Committee (Gold Mine)
    "War" - The Jam (Polydor)
    "Jingo" - Candido (Salsoul)
"I Got My Mind Made Up" - Instant Funk (Rams Horn)

  • haha no, did I say that? Its just records i really love, but I dont have money to buy expensive OGs, Im only 17.. dont even have a job...

I knew someone would ask that question! Thought about it after posting..

I own some of those records and those I dont have in OGs, I have in re-issues. Better than nothing!

but I have mostly rare and obscure records thats not "known" or should I say "hyped up (on eBay)"?..

Anyone else think Panache is boring? Such potential in the start of each song, but I completely tune out after a minute or so each time. I wonder if that's just me.

One track that's been blowing my mind lately is Chocolat's - Disco Roots (Disco Remix). Shit is slamming.

seriously? I find that song really cheesy - but the people liked it? Maybe I need to re-listen...

It leans toward the cheese but dropped at the right time it's a wicked catchy disco stomper.

I have it on 45. I'd love it if the vocals weren't too xian. Does the 12" have an instrumental by any chance? The 45 has the acapella on the flip.

  • speaking of 45's..what about the Spice 7"-Sweet Norma Jones..bangin' disco/funk music.

wow...you have the original. what label is it on? is it credited to the joubert singers? does it mention walter gibbons on it?

dude, the 12" is ill...it's a tony humphries mix...has instrumental and a couple different versions...all extended...6 minutes at least. and i'm pretty sure it's remixed...the vocals sound great...especially the "we don't know how we don't know where" dude.

it's easiest to track down on the louie vega choice comp that came out last year.

mary clark/ take me im yours 12"

going rate for that is waaaaaaaay overpriced.

Something cheap like Make Me Over - The Escorts pee pees all over it IMO.

  • there's boots of the Mary Clark that cost $5 thanks to peter brown...that track kills Escorts in my opinion but like syl johnson says "different strokes"

of course not much listed in here is straight-up disco...more disco-era soul/funk or disco reggae.

It's a pic sleeve, Joubert Singers - Stand on the Word - Next Records 1985. No Walter Gibbons mention. I'll take a pic later.

A Side: Stand on the Word
B Side: Stand on the Word ("A Clapella" Version)

Produced by Phyliss Joubert and George Rodriguez Jr.
