I feel like starting a riot on a saturday night... looks like I caught my son's cold and may be really f**ked up by tomorrow morning (and will have to take care of both kids all day tomorrow, sick or not), so I'm just gonna start some schitt up in here tonight just for the hell of it
RANK THE ALBUMS OF THE HIP HOP HEAVYWEIGHTS
Meaning, list the albums of some of the legends of rap in order from best (or most liked) to worst (or least liked). To do this can only cause arguments, chaos and commotion. Maybe even bad feelings, name calling and death threats. Let's do it. I will set it off, y'all add on:

Comments
1. Supreme Clientele
2. Iron Man (just BARELY behind Supreme Clientele)
3. Pretty Tony
4. Bullet Proof Wallets
I'm right there with you; Clientele is a better album, but the highs on Iron Man are more better. (ie I'll take "winter warz" and "daytona" over anything else he did...but maybe that's cuz I actually like u-god)

3. Jeru The Damaja - Sun Rises In The East
1. Supreme Clientele
2. Iron Man (just BARELY behind Supreme Clientele)
3. Pretty Tony
4. Bullet Proof Wallets
I can't really disagree with this though I can't really tell if PT is better than BPW or not. Both have strengths and flaws and would be a tie in my book.
DE LA SOUL
1. De La Soul Is Dead
2. 3 Ft. High
3. Buhloone Mindstate
4. Stakes Is High
5. The Grind Date
6. Those A.O.I albums
It's tough to choose b/t 1 and 2 but I'm nodding at "Dead" because it manages to reinvent the group in a way that was unexpected and undeniably successful. I liked "The Grind Date" but I just can't listen to it and not feel like something's changed (probably me)
KRS ONE / BDP
1. Criminal Minded
2. Return Of The Boom Bap
3. By All Means Necessary
4. Sex And Violence
5. KRS One
6. Ghetto Music: The Blueprint Of Hip hop
7. Edutainment
8. I Got Next
9. whatever else...
I'd agree with this for the most part.
Kris did a lot of recent stuff I haven't checked for, and although he is a great live performer i wasn't crazy about the "Live Hardcore Worldwide" lp... that's just me, though
JAY-Z
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Blueprint (actually not all that far behind "Reasonable" for me)
3. The Black Album (can't believe how much this album grew on me)
4. Vol 3... Life & Times Of S. Carter
5. Vol. 2 Hard Knock Life
6. In My Lifetime Vol. 1
7. The Dynasty: Roc La Familia
8. Blueprint 2: The Gift And The Curse
I'm not really counting "Unplugged" on the list since it's all old songs. But of the Vol 1-3, I thought 3 was, by far, the superior volume. I can't even fuck with Vol. 1 or 2 most days but they're more consistent than "Dynasty" or the shitty, "Blueprint 2".
COMMON / COMMON SENSE
1. Resurrection
2. Like Water For Chocolate
3. Can I Borrow A Dollar
4. One Day It'll All Make Sense
5. Electric Circus
6. Be
Honestly, the degree in quality between his albums isn't that great to me. If "Resurrection" is a somewhere around an "8" or "9", something like be wouldn't be much lower than a "7".
THE ROOTS
1. Things Fall Apart
2. Phrenology
3. Do You Want More?!??
4. Illadelph Halflife
5. Organix
6. The Tipping Point
I don't know - this is a tough one too given that their albums manage to be very differnt from one another in some ways (like, how do you compare "Phrenology" with "Do You Want More?") though frankly, I think "Orgnanix" and "Do You Want More?" might as well be the same album. I also think "DYWM?" is more groundbreaking (please people, stop laughing) for its time and place but it hasn't aged well at all.
1. Lord Finesse - Return of The Funkyman
2. Showbiz & AG - Runaway Slave
3. Diamond D - Stunts Blunts & Hip Hop
4. Lord Finesse - Funky Technician
5. Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous
All praises due to Big L but his debut didn't really meet up with his potential. I also think Lord Finesse's first album is about as good as the Show/Diamond albums though, on a personal level, I just like them in this order.
1. low end theory
2. midnight marauders
2. people's instinctive travels...
4. beats, rhymes and life
5. love movement
Fuck this, I'm doing ties. Might as well. But otherwise, yeah, this sounds about right though I know some folk who like MM more than LET.
gangstarr[/b]-(this is so fucking easy)
1. step in the arena
2. hard to earn
3. moment of truth
4. daily operation
5. no more mr. nice guy
6. the ownerz
I know most people wouldn't put DO that low but honestly, I have NEVER liked that LP and no matter how many repeated listens I've subjected myself to, I just can't roll with it.
masta ace[/b]
1. slaughtahouse
2. take a look around

2. fear of a black planet
3. yo! bum rush the show

3. death certificate
4. amerikkka's most wanted
4. doggystyle
6. no one can do it better
7. niggaz4life
8. livin like hustlers
9. the predator
This is a definitely a tough one; I'd probably rescramble a lot of these depending on my mood. Personally, "Death Certificate" would be #1 to me but I recognize that it's not as influential as either SOC or TC. I was also never a big N4L fan. And the Predator is pretty far below Above the Law.
